A year-end heads-up for anyone buying or selling DVC 👇

It may only be early October, but we are already looking at late-November and December closing dates.

🚨 One thing many owners and buyers don’t realize: Disney temporarily pauses ownership transfers each December while Annual Dues are posted for the upcoming year. Transactions can continue moving through the closing process during this period, but Disney will not complete the final ownership transfer until processing resumes.

🎄 Add in Thanksgiving and the December holidays, and year-end transactions can take a little longer than usual.

📅 Buyers closing later in the year should also plan for 2027 Annual Dues to be due with closing funds.

If buying or selling DVC before the end of the year is on your radar, now is the time to start planning ahead.

There are still several steps between an accepted offer and seeing those points in your Disney Vacation Club account.

Here’s the basic path:

✍️ Purchase contract is signed
💰 Deposit is submitted
🏰 Disney’s Right of First Refusal (ROFR)
🔎 Title work & closing preparation
📄 Closing documents & final payment
🔑 Closing
✨ Disney completes the membership transfer

How long does it all take? Our recent transactions have averaged about 35 days from accepted offer to closing — but property location, financing, title requirements, holidays and other factors can all affect the timeline. And after closing, Disney still needs time to complete the membership transfer.
