Real comment from a real move day this week, and genuinely one of the nicest things you can say to a moving crew.

From the outside it looks simple. A guy standing in your living room with a blanket and a roll of plastic for about ninety seconds. It's actually four decisions, and every one of them exists because somebody, somewhere, learned it the hard way.

We didn’t ask anyone to do this. 💗

Michele posted in the Lewisville-Clemmons group about an hour into her move day. Then her neighbors started turning up in the comments, and a bunch of them had moved with us years ago and just wanted to say so.

That’s the whole business model, honestly. We don’t have a marketing department. We have people who tell their neighbors.

A few more came in the same week, including one that got the office quiet for a second. A couple moving out of two separate houses — Tennessee and Ohio — into one house here in North Carolina, in 90 degree heat, and she still took the time to name every guy on the crew.

Lester. Emetreus. Lorenzo. Kendron. That’s you. 👏🏼

Happy Friday. Time to expose your household. 😂

We’ve been in a LOT of homes the week before a move, and we can tell you with total confidence: every single one has all five of these people in it. Sometimes two of them are the same person, which is its own kind of chaos.

For the record, our crews have opinions.

The Labeler makes our whole day easier and we love them. The Chucker saves you money, because you pay to move what you keep. The Just-In-Caser is why we’re carrying a box marked “cables?” into a brand new house. The Midnight Packer we’ve met at 8am, still awake, holding coffee, deeply humbled. And the Snack Manager? Undefeated. No notes.

Here’s something we’ve learned from a few thousand move days: the fastest moves are almost never the smallest ones. 👀

They’re the ones where somebody spent twenty minutes the night before thinking about the route.

A crew doesn’t lose time lifting. They lose it walking. Around the recycling bin, past the bike in the hall, out to a truck parked four houses down, then back inside to ask which bag they’re not supposed to touch.

Swipe for the five we’d fix first. Parking, walkway, building paperwork, floors, and the do-not-pack pile. Same list whether you’re leaving a two bedroom or shutting down an office suite.

And if your building wants a certificate of insurance and an elevator reservation? Send it our way. Genuinely our favorite kind of email. 😄

A closing is a team sport, and everybody on it shapes how the whole thing feels.

The way we see our job: protect what the rest of the team already earned.

Two things we can offer from our end of it:

1. Timing. Most folks call us about 1 week prior. The ones who call around 5 weeks prior still have their pick of dates. If you mention booking movers the same week they go under contract, month-end never becomes a problem.
2. Three questions. Slide 4 has them. There are a lot of good moving companies in the Triad, and these three answers help you match the right one to the right client.

Let’s talk about your labels.

In our 20 years of moving, we still haven’t figured out how to see through your boxes.
Maybe one day.

But until then, a scribbled “MISC” with a mega sharpie isn’t going to do you any good.

The more information you put on the box, the better. Here’s our top labeling tips:

1️⃣ Write the room it's going TO, not the room it came from.
2️⃣ Write what's inside. "Kitchen" could be dish towels or it could be your grandmother's china.
3️⃣ Put the label on the side, not the top. Once boxes stack, you can’t read the top.
4️⃣ Number them. "3 of 6 · Kitchen" tells you instantly that three boxes are still on the truck.
5️⃣ If it's heavy, say so on the box. Your crew and your back will love you for it.

“What’s in the box?!” doesn’t have to be a guessing game. Give us a call, we’re really good at labels.

Some days you’re dispatching crews. Other days you’re loading a truck, hauling boxes to a job, or wrestling a sectional apart. Never the same week twice.

We’re looking for someone who notices. You see the truck is low on pads before the crew does, and fixes the problem instead of forwarding it. Moving or trades experience helps. Being reliable matters more.

An hourly rate sounds like a price. It isn't.

A rate doesn't tell you how many movers are coming. Or how many hours your house actually takes. It doesn't factor in travel time, fuel, and materials, or what happens when there are stairs at the new place.

Two movers at a lower rate can cost you more than four movers at a higher one.

An accurate quote includes: crew size, hours, travel, materials, everything. In writing. Before we load a thing.
