Due to the potential for a burst of snow Thursday morning and black ice expected on bridges and overpasses through 1 pm, WS/FCS will have a remote learning day on February 20. Reminder: To be counted as attending school, students should complete the remote learning assignments teachers have sent home. The work is due when we return to school.

Employees may choose the following work or leave options: work from home (if job allows); take annual leave; make up time; or take leave without pay. Only staff required to respond to inclement weather will report to work when it is safe to do so.

Debido a las posibles ráfagas de nieve en la mañana del jueves y el riesgo de hielo en puentes y pasos a desnivel hasta la 1pm, WS/FCS tendrá un día de aprendizaje remoto el 20 de febrero. Recordatorio: para ser contado con asistencia a la escuela, los estudiantes deben completar las tareas de aprendizaje remoto que los maestros han enviado a casa. Las tareas deben entregarse cuando regresemos a la escuela.

Los empleados pueden elegir las siguientes opciones de trabajo o de licencia: trabajar desde casa (si la posición lo permite); tomar licencia anual; recuperar el tiempo; o tomar licencia sin pago. Solo el personal requerido para responder a inclemencias del tiempo se reportará a trabajar cuando sea seguro hacerlo.

As you know, our concern this week has been roads that remained ice or snow covered. Crews have done an incredible job clearing these areas and conditions have greatly improved.

There are still some areas with snow on the side of the road and patches of ice, so to assure that our bus drivers, parents, and students have good visibility in the morning, we are going to operate on a 2-hour delay.

It will be quite cold tomorrow, but we think this extra time will add a layer of safety to our morning commute.

Due to some roads that have yet to be cleared, and lots of areas that will certainly refreeze tonight, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, January 13.

We will continue to monitor conditions on Monday as temperatures move well above freezing and much more melting and improvement is expected. If there is still a need for a schedule modification on Tuesday, we will communicate that tomorrow evening.

MORNING UPDATE 12/3 : Due to dangerous conditions on the roads and safety concerns, WS/FCS will now be closed today for students and staff. Follow up emails will be sent to all employees with next steps. We are sorry for this late-minute decision. We believe this is the best decision for students and staff.

Original Post: Due to potential winter weather overnight, WS/FCS will be on a two-hour delay Tuesday morning, December 3. This will give time for the sun to rise so that students and staff can safely get to school and work.

All students and staff should report to school two hours later than normal, unless contacted by your supervisor.

Attention Parents: WSFCS are Closed tomorrow September 27th

Hello WS/FCS families.

Due to predicted high wind gusts and the potential for flash flooding and tornadoes from Hurricane Helene during student and staff arrivals in the morning, WS/FCS will be closed for students and staff on Friday, September 27.

Although the weather is predicted to improve in the afternoon, all extracurricular activities will also be cancelled on Friday to give us time to assess facility conditions.

Activities this afternoon and tonight will continue as normal.

At this time, all Varsity games scheduled for tonight are on as scheduled.
