Brake Safety Week is underway 🚛 From August 23-29, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is partnering with inspectors across North America for its annual Brake Safety Week, a focused inspection and enforcement initiative designed to help keep commercial motor vehicles and our roadways safe.

This year, inspectors are placing special emphasis on brake drums and rotors, along with checking brake systems and components for violations that could impact a vehicle’s safe operation.

At SWTO, safety is always our priority, and that starts with making sure our equipment and our drivers are prepared to safely travel millions of miles each year. We’re proud that our fleet is equipped with advanced Bendix Commercial Vehicle System LLC safety technologies, including air disc brakes and Wingman Fusion driver assistance systems.

Brake Safety Week is an important reminder of what our team prioritizes every day: safe equipment, proactive maintenance and safe operation on the road. 👏

Sharing a message from American Trucking Associations this morning as students head back to school: "A new school year + new school supplies = student success! Truckers deliver all of the classroom essentials so that students have everything they need to learn and thrive."

It's true: “Back To School” starts with truck drivers. Before the school bells ring and backpacks get zipped, our drivers are already on the road: fueling the convenience stores where families grab supplies, snacks, and coffee on the go. Because without fuel, the morning hustle doesn’t happen.

Recognition means more than receiving an award. It's about acknowledging the people who consistently go above and beyond, who represent our values every day, and who help make SWTO stronger with every mile.

Recently, we had the opportunity to recognize the entire fleet, as well as several outstanding members of our team for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence of our Port Manatee Fleet at our Fleet of the Year Luncheon. While each recognition was unique, they all shared one thing in common: they were earned through hard work and a commitment to doing the job the right way.

We're incredibly proud of these team members and grateful for the example they set each day. Congratulations to each of you on this well-deserved recognition; we appreciate everything you do for SWTO and the communities we serve!

Learning the job is one thing. Learning it the right way is what sets our team apart. During Justin Broderick's Initial Driver Safety Observation, his RTM Chris Barnes recognized the effort and dedication Justin has already shown as he transitions into fuel hauling.

"Justin is new to fuel hauling but has done exceptionally well at picking up the process. He is knowledgeable of SWTO policies and procedures and did very well during our DSO." - Chris Barnes, RTM

Justin also shared what has stood out most about his training experience: "It's good to not be in a rush, and to be incentivized for efficiency. The extended training period is good for people like me with no fuel hauling experience."
