The HDFI Committee will host the 2022 event on Saturday, September 17, from 8 am to 12 noon at the Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport. This free annual event features airplanes, history, food, and more! As in years past, the High Desert Fly-In will include free admission to all and a Cowboy Breakfast by the Winslow Rotary Club from 8 to 10 am for $6 a person. Visiting pilots will enjoy complimenta

ry breakfast, gift bags, and fuel discounts. Attendees will be allowed on the tarmac to view general aviation, special-use, and historical aircraft. Young people will once again be offered complimentary flights courtesy of the Flagstaff EAA on a first-come/first-served basis from 8 to 11 am (waiver required). Inside the hangar, the Flying Fun Kids Area will feature hands-on activities from the Winslow Public Library and an interactive World Travel Map. The Flying Through History Area will include the Old Trails Museum’s Flying through History: The Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport and The Swamp Ghost and World War II exhibits. Historian Erik Berg will be on hand to talk with attendees about early aviation in the Southwest. The featured charity will once again be the Fly-In Angels for Winslow Animal Control. Attendees can bring donations of pet food to the event for donation to the shelter. Wiseman Aviation will also donate a 50-pound bag of dog food for every pilot that attends! REMINDER: This Saturday, September 21 at 8 am the Young Eagles Flight Event will be at the Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport. Romo's Mexican Grill will have your favorite breakfast items hot and ready for your hungry bellies!

The 2022 High Desert Fly-In was a success! The HDFI Committee hosted the event on Saturday, September 17, at the Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport. This free annual event featured airplanes, history, food, and more!

As in years past, the High Desert Fly-In included free admission to all and a Cowboy Breakfast by the Winslow Rotary Club. Visiting pilots enjoyed complimentary breakfast, gift bags, and fuel discounts.

Attendees were allowed on the tarmac to view general aviation, special-use, and historical aircraft. Young people received complimentary flights courtesy of the Flagstaff EAA -- thanks to that wonderful group!

Inside the hangar, the Flying Fun Kids Area featured hands-on activities from the Winslow Public Library. The Flying Through History Area included the Old Trails Museum’s "Flying through History: The Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport" and "The Swamp Ghost and World War II" exhibits and an interactive U.S. Travel Map. Historian Erik Berg shared his knowledge and historic artifacts about early aviation in the Southwest.

The featured charity was once again the Fly-In Angels for Winslow Animal Control. Attendees brought donations of pet food to the event for donation to the shelter. Wiseman Aviation will be donating a 50-pound bag of dog food for every pilot that attends!

The Flagstaff EAA is providing young people with complimentary flights, first-come/first-served from 8 to 11 am (waiver required). The Cowboy Breakfast from 8 to 10 am is $6 a person.

Our Story

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 High Desert Fly-In will not take place on Saturday, September 19. The HDFI Committee plans to host the Fly-In next year on Saturday, September 18, 2021, when we hope to see you all there again.

The HDFI Committee would like to thank all the organizational partners represented on our committee -- the City of Winslow, Wiseman Aviation, the Just Cruis’n Car Club, the Old Trails Museum, the Winslow Airport Commission. the Winslow Chamber of Commerce, the Winslow Historic Preservation Commission, the Winslow Public Library, and the Winslow Rotary Club -- for their ongoing commitment to this special annual event.

The HDFI Committee would also like to thank our event collaborators -- the Flagstaff EAA Young Eagles, historian Erik Berg, the Western New Mexico Aviation Heritage Museum, the E & O Kitchen, the Winslow Senior Center, and Winslow Animal Control -- for their willingness to participate in the 2020 Fly-In, and we hope to work with you all next year.
