Late posting. Made it to Green Turtle yesterday afternoon after smooth crossing on Saturday. Spent the night in West End and then crossed Little Bahama Bank which is just over 100 mile run over to the Abacos.

Final engine maintenance for my first bahama crossing. We leave Wilmington Thursday and hope to make our crossing on Saturday 5/9. I have been planning for this since last August. Major refit on my boat and trailer and many hours of prep.

Despite the cold day, got most of the electronics back up and running. Still need to wire in the VHF and then do some wire management behind the panel. Also installed new JL M6-880X’s in the back and ran all new 12 gauge speaker wire.

Finished the new dash panel today. Measure 5 times and cut once.

Doing some work on my boat this winter including installing new electronics, upgrading freshwater pump, new cushions, upgrading batteries and switches, adding another VHF radio and antenna, redoing the hydraulic steering lines to get them up out of the motor well, replacing some worn out speakers, installing a new transducer... at least that is what I have so far. Planning to take the boat to Florida in May to cross over the Bahamas for a few weeks. I will provide some updates along the way but feel free to reach out if you need to upgrade/update electronics, install new pumps, or you are ready for your outboard maintenance.

Took the Cat's Pajamas offshore last Thursday after completing the 800-hr. maintenance and she ran like a top. Offshore was quite sporty but we still managed a few wahoo. Time to schedule your end of year maintenance so you are ready for spring!

That’s the spirit of coastal Carolina right there… living for the water, chasing the horizon, and squeezing every ounce of adventure out of the season. Fall boating in southeastern NC really is something special: crisp mornings, golden light on the marshes, incredible sunsets, enjoying dolphins in the waterway, and peaceful beach days as the summer crowd’s fade. You have run your boat all summer and now is the time to show your boat some love. A little TLC now means fewer headaches later. Schedule your end of summer maintenance now so you can have your boat in tip top shape for the fall.

What’s your favorite fall boating spot around here? Mason's inlet? Masonboro Island? Lea-Hutaff Island, Bald Head?

Hey friends & customers,

I'd like to remind all boat owners of the critical importance of regularly checking under your outboard engine cowling. This simple check takes just 2 minutes and can save you from major headaches when you’re out at the sandbar or offshore fishing.

What to Look For:
• Leaks – fuel, oil
• Oil Filter (look for any sign of corrosion or leaks)
• Unusual corrosion
• Cracked or brittle tubes
• Loose or disconnected wires
• Insect nests (wasps, ants, etc.)
• Bird nests or other debris

These issues may seem small, but they can quickly turn into big problems if left unnoticed.

Stay safe and enjoy your time on the water!
