Biggest tree base I've seen in the South! Low Head Dam had a few big, old trees 🌳 🍄🤘

We almost bailed on this campground because we were concerned about it being so remote. There was very little info online too.

On the drive into the campground we got to see some great views of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. At the corner of the intersection to get to the campground was Tripps gas station where we got a few quick snacks.

It was a long, windy road down to the campground which then opens up at a boat ramp, a dam, and about 10 or so RV sites (water/electric with dump station at the entrance) right on the river. There are a couple of sandbar beach areas too!

Should have taken more photos when our neighbor Charlie lent us his extra canoe to take out on the river. There are a pair of bald eagles that nest back there, but we only got to see them in flight going back at the end of the day. Super cool to watch!

The bulk of the pictures comes from the way we had to hook up our power at Low Head... It is still one of the weirdest and greatest feats the South has ever seen. Just pure shock and awe folks. Those staircases are AT LEAST 10 feet high. I guess it must flood their pretty often. Smart engineering if you ask me. The staircase was a bit wobbly though which was fun 😂
