My two oldest are off to Vancouver with my mom.

On Monday they board the Disney Wonder for a 7 night Alaskan Cruise!!!

I am so excited for them…

And maybe a little jealous that my daughters get to sail the Wonder before their travel advisor father…

While at the Travel Insured Mastermind I decided to take advantage of my time and tour another resort:

Secrets Mirabel- in the Hotel Zone and part of Hyatt’s all-inclusive collection.

Here's my honest take:

🌊 Caribbean on one side, lagoon on the other
🍹 14 restaurants, no reservations, top-shelf everything included
🏊 Six pools (yes I tried to find a bad one, couldn't)
💆 A spa view that'll ruin every other spa for you
🚫 Adults-only — so it's actually quiet

I don’t just talk travel and research it online, I work to explore and walk properties myself. I want to feel confident about where I’m sending my clients.

This property is now one I would feel good about recommending.

If you're picturing a trip where the biggest decision you make all day is what to order at dinner — this is it.

I got to spend a couple nights at AVA resort in Cancun last week.

Would I recommend this resort?

Bottom line: yes, for the right client.

Quick run down:

🌊Everyroom is a guaranteed Oceanview
🍽️ 17 restaurants, bars, and cafes. 6 fine dining options
🏊‍♂️ Beautiful pools that include AVA Bay Saltwater lagoon built for non motorized water sports
🏋️Spa and Fitness Center
🛝Kids club
🍹Plenty of swim up bars, nightclubs, and speak easy

Pros:
✨Excellent pool areas
✨Beautiful rooms
✨Great variety of food and good cocktails (especially liked crepes, gelato, and street tacos)
✨Lots of activities

Cons:
🚩Beach- small, water is ugly and brown
🚩Food quality was a 6/10 based on what I had- The snack options were great but the main food was just ok (keep in mind I did not try everything) but as a foodie I felt it was all just ok.
🚩So many activities but lots were not included and came with an up charge (laser tag, escape room, bowling, etc)

Overall pretty good family property and I would personally bring my kids here. There were things I did not love but over all the quality was solid. I’d give the resort an overall 8/10.

I spent a few days in Cancun this week representing Travelmation at the Travel Insured Advisor Mastermind in Cancun.

The event was held at AVA resort. Beautiful property with so much to offer families (more on this in a future post).

I spent two days with them in sessions. These sessions were incredibly productive. They invited a group of us to give them open and brutally honest feedback about absolutely everything in their processes- from quoting to claims to marketing to advisor experience to client experience.

I as an advisor felt listened to and valued.

It reinforced to me what a valuable partner I have in Travel Insured and why they will continue to be my number 1 partner for Travel Insurance for my clients.

Other takeaways:

1. I toured Secrets Mirabel. A beautiful adults only resort option in hotel zone- more on them in another post.

2. I had the pleasure of meeting and connecting with several other advisors from other agencies and was reminded that true professionals collaborate, they don’t compete.

Relationships in this industry are everything and this trip was about that- relationships with other advisors, relationships with key people at Travel Insured, and relationships with key people at these resorts. It is my relationships with all these folks that help me serve my clients so well!
