Apparently Braniff International used to fly out of Wichita Falls Regional Airport… and some of us only learned that after finding this photo 😅

The terminal may look a little different these days, but it is always fun digging through the airport’s history and seeing how travel has changed over the years.

Who remembers the Braniff days at the airport?

Due to weather conditions in the Dallas area, today’s afternoon inbound and outbound flights have been canceled. (American Airlines Flight 3950)

At this time, tonight’s inbound flight is still scheduled to operate as planned. Passengers are encouraged to continue monitoring their airline for the latest updates, as weather conditions may change.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as safety remains the top priority.

This past week, Fly Wichita Falls Regional Airport was proud to participate in the City’s Citizen’s Academy and give participants a behind the scenes look at airport operations ✈️

It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work our team does every day to keep operations running smoothly and to share more about how Wichita Falls Regional Airport serves our community.

A special thank you to Jenny Stevens and Nicholas Welden for leading the tour and sharing their knowledge with the group.

We also want to thank the City of Wichita Falls, Texas Government Public Information Office for creating such a meaningful program and providing opportunities for community engagement like this.

It was especially rewarding to connect with residents, answer thoughtful questions, and share more about the airport’s role in our city. We truly enjoyed the opportunity to connect the work we do each day with the community we are proud to serve.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming students to Wichita Falls Regional Airport for a field trip ✈️

It was great to share a behind the scenes look at the airport and give them a chance to learn more about aviation and how regional airports serve our community.

The Wichita Falls air terminal in 1930 and the first runway in 1938 marked the beginning of commercial aviation in our community.

Nearly 100 years later, we are still proud to connect Wichita Falls to the world.
