White Mountain Lakes Ranch (Airpark) has begun testing the runway for the ability to host drag racing events this spring, 2020. We began with planning to host drag racing events that the public is invited to observe as we understand that there is a very high level of interest in spectators viewing drag racing.

Unfortunately, for our inaugural drag racing season this year, we learned there is a profound cost in preparing the property for insurance certificates of coverage, which includes procuring and installing thousands of feet of concrete “Jersey Barriers” and other very expensive property improvements to allow the public to enjoy watching the racing. These costs, coupled with the existing COVID 19 orders from Governor Ducey limiting public gatherings to less than 50 people have combined to eliminate our ability to be able to accommodate public viewing of our drag racing events in 2020.

This is more disappointing to the drag racing promoters and owners of the White Mountain Lake Airport than it is to our neighbors who want to view the drag racing.

We ask that the public to not attempt to enter the airport property during the upcoming drag racing events and also to not attempt to park alongside Bourdon Ranch Road. Navajo County Sheriffs and racing staff will be patrolling Bourdon Ranch Road during racing events to ensure that Bourdon Ranch Road does not become a safety concern with people parking alongside the road.

The drag racing organizers are all working to put the pieces in place so we can invite the public to safely attend as spectators in the 2021 drag racing season.

White Mountain Lakes Ranch wants to use the airport property to serve the community with events. The public is invited to participate in or observe as a spectator, which will include White Mountain Bowhunters Club archery events, drag racing, etc.
