Fixing a cracked hull deck joint seam on this Catalina and correcting the yellowed-out factory repair to a perfect match. The two pieces are fitted together at the factory and had about a 3/8” thick layer of polyester filler to cover the seam. This was all ground out and replaced with 2 layers of biaxle fiberglass. Sprayed fresh gelcoat with a perfect color match. Many steps to achieve a match like this on a 27 year old boat but came out flawless. Pretty much every one of these 320s from Catalina have the same factory repair that has left a strip of discolored gelcoat from sub-par gelcoat additives and cracks eventually showing through. The blue layout fluid ensures perfection in the tedious wetsanding process. The rest of the hull later received a thorough detail and she is ready for the 2024 season!
