Holland America Line
Glacier Bay with Holland America Line: a full day in the park. 🏔️
Holland America is known for its regular, dependable access to Glacier Bay.
⏱️ Ships spend about 9 to 10 hours in the park.
🎙️ A park ranger comes aboard to guide you and explain the glaciers.
🪶 Huna Tlingit guides share the Native perspective on this land.
❄️ The star of the show is Margerie Glacier, rising about 200 feet above the waterline, with ice calving into the bay.
🌊 The park has 62 named glaciers in all.

Give it up for salmon!

Every year, millions of salmon return to Katmai’s rivers after spending years at sea. And every year, the bears are waiting.

Sockeye salmon provide bears with the enormous number of calories they need to build fat reserves for winter. That means the salmon are not merely lunch. They are the difference between a moderately sized bear and an enormous bear. And, ultimately, between making it through winter and not. Beyond bear food, nutrients from decomposing salmon can make their way into soils and vegetation, indirectly supporting the plants that form habitat and food for other species.

So, while we celebrate the bears of Fat Bear Week, we also take a moment to recognize the true supporting cast. The SALMON!
