If you happen to have a larger size boat or yacht, we can still service them if they are on the water. You can bring them to Three Belles Marina in Niantic,Ct where I am also the service manager and running their full time service department. We usually have a slip available for transient boating repairs.
At Three Belles Marina we are fully capable of doing all of your repairs. We are currently remodeling our repair facility and have upgraded all new equipment and tooling to better service customers. Everyone there is looking forward to a really good season ! Come join us ! This is a beautifully maintained marina and right on the Niantic Bay and has kayaks for rent, a swimming pool and nice lawn area for relaxing. They are also doing a lot in the food service this year and have live music entertainment on weekends. This is a beautifully maintained Marina with some of the nicest people I know !

Here is another example of a tiny little outboard that wasn’t taken care of and no one did the routine maintenance on it. After a little work and putting in some fresh fuel and it started on the first pull. We love working on these little engines. They are so fun compared to the really big stuff we work on.. If someone tells you your outboard is junk and it needs to be replaced. Call us first and ask for free advice..95 % of the time they are fixable !

This little engine was picked up from a marina where they told the owner the engine was junk. Basically it wasn’t winterized like it was supposed to be and the rings got stuck and the carburetor was totally gummed up.
We just did one of these engines yesterday and went through it and it started on the first pull and runs great. The sad part is, is that the customer was forced to buy another engine because he was given the wrong information.
Over the past 2 years I have seen multiple times where customers have been told that their engines were junk and needed to be replaced. Sadly they ended up buying new engines when they never needed to. Engines are expensive and if your mechanics aren’t doing what they are supposed to take care of them, then you will be out a lot of money.

The snow has been melting very fast actually and boaters and jet skiers are waking up their boats and skis after a long winter.This year we are also working on larger boats, yachts, and sailboats at the marinas. It’s going to be 60 degrees here in CT today ! Spring is coming. We are making up our spring schedule as we speak. Call us early to get in. It usually gets very busy as soon as the weather breaks.
We do all jetskis regardless of the year or type, 2 stroke or 4 stroke, all jet boats from the 1960’s all the way until 2026, all makes and models of boats and yachts and sailboats up to 80 feet ! Salt water and aluminum Sterndrive housings don’t like each other at all ! This is supposed to be a freshwater use only boat but the corrosion and salt deposits inside tell another story.
We will service and clean this complete drive before it goes back on. We recommend pulling the drives off at the end of the season to do the maintenance and check for any issues before they become bigger and more expensive problems.

Yes we have a blizzard on its way towards Ct but we are in our shop getting everyone’s boats and skis ready for the season. We expect to be snowed in for a few days so we are making the proper arrangements to deal with it. In our hearts and our minds, we are out on the water somewhere mid summer ! Stay safe everyone !

This year we have accepted all the opportunities to work on yachts here in Ct and the closest states on the eastern seaboard. There is a huge demand for professional marine mechanics, especially working on yachts. There is very little if any improvement in the marine mechanics training sector of our business. There are fewer and fewer young people going to school to get into this business and for good reasons. The work we do is very difficult at times and if you don’t work for yourself it really isn’t worth it. The truck, the tools and equipment, and all the proper training gets very expensive very quickly.
If you see us out somewhere or driving down the road, stop us and say hi ! We love boating talk ! Spring is coming ! Stay warm this weekend …..It is a very cold one today. 3 degrees here on the shoreline in Ct !

Rocks, beaches, submerged logs that we hit….Yes it happens and too frequently unfortunately. Accidents will happen. Here at Shumbo Marine and Jetski we will do everything we can to undo the damage done to your skis if it happens to you.
Wintertime is the best time to tear down a ski and get it back to new condition. We have about 2 months of winter left to go through before it starts getting really busy here again. If you have things you want to get done to your boat or ski, now is the best time to get them in and have it done.

If your ski isn’t fun to ride because the seat looks like this picture, give us a call and get on the schedule to get a new seat cover put on ! It is worth every penny, trust me !

Wintertime in Ct…..With a foot of snow on the ground, we aren’t out working on yachts today…lol…We are inside doing a total renovation on a 1989 Tounament Ski boat. The boat itself is in excellent condition but the interior is shot and therefore is being totally renewed over the next month or so.
These older boats are still far better than the new crap they are selling for $100,000 which is insane ! Over the years, some boat companies have cut back in quality and they just don’t build them like this anymore. Simple, strong, rugged, dependable…This boat can easily rip 10 skiers out of the water all at the same time….Try doing that with your new boat bought today…..!
