In honor of May Day

One of the most violent tragedies in the U.S. labor movement was the Haymarket Affair in Chicago May 4, 1886, after which seven workers would be executed for alleged conspiracy to commit murder. It started with a spirited, nationwide general strike that kicked off three days earlier as hundreds of thousands of workers flooded the streets of industrial centers demanding safe working conditions and an 8-hour workday.
