Check out the progress on the Christmas tree dune project at Willard Beach. Dunes are such an important part of protecting coastal communities from damage, especially during storms like today's.

As we weather this most recent storm, here is a look at the impact of the storm just before Christmas on one of our profiles in Ogunquit. The x-axis is in meters and gets closer to the water as the numbers get higher. The y-axis is in centimeters and shows the elevation of the sand. So many structures along the Maine coast have been damaged by storms this winter. Here is the walkway that used to go over the stream at Kettle Cove.

Take a look at the damage that has been done to the stairs and dune at Laudholm Beach. This highlights two important factors when it comes to beach erosion. The destruction of walkways for the public to enjoy our beautiful beaches as well as the dunes which protect our local communities from flooding during storms.
