We had the opportunity to honor Mr. Tim Frazier on his retirement last night. Mr. Frazier took time with a little no name trucking company to teach us things we could never imagine. Through his leadership, we went on to win every award with the ATA in safety. Words can NEVER express what he has meant to us professionally and personally. He and Mrs. Deb’s smiling faces will truly be missed at all of our events. It was mentioned last night about filling those shoes; I feel those shoes need to be put in bronze and placed in a trophy case because there will never be another one like him. We love you Mr. Frazier and Mrs. Deb!

We were able to complete our 6th annual Jeff Watson Truck Driving Championship Saturday in spite of the rain. The championship came down to just two points but Martin Salter was able nudge out Charlie Salter (no kin) to win his first ever TDC. We are so proud of Martin and what he has been able to accomplish. Martin lost his dad suddenly in the fall of last year. His mom and sister were in attendance and were able to celebrate together which was a very special moment for us all.

We gave out other awards and prizes, Nathan Heflin won prizes for best pretrip and written test while Martin won best overall for the course. We also enjoyed our “powder puff” contest where Holly Clifton won with 195 points and we allowed employees to try their hand at driving a big rig (closed course under heavy supervision) where Daniel Holloway walked away a winner with 145 points (impressive). This was Daniel’s first time behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler.

We had great fellowship, fun and food where Pam and Wesley Hanvey (JP’s Kitchen) catered again for us and it was oh so good.

We were also honored to have Rushell Herren, our 2024 Driver of the Year and now retired, in attendance where he served as our Grand Marshal. Our Captain, Jerry Lindley, rode Mr. Rushell around in “Grand” fashion.

We enjoyed an evening of fun and food for our annual LB3 Christmas party. We were able to celebrate many of the accomplishments of our drivers from the last year. So thankful to all that made this evening possible. Our caterers, Wesley and Pam Hanvey never disappoint with smoked ribs and chicken.

The evening was highlighted with the Stacy Langford Driver of the Year Award that went to Rushell Herren (chosen by his co-workers)presented by last year’s DOY Addison Dickinson. He also carried home a custom crystal truck for his retirement. Mr Rushell will be retiring next month after 50 years of service and over 5 million miles driven in his career. We will miss him tremendously but we are excited for him at the same time.

Charlie Salter carried home the Rushell Herren “Rookie” of the year award presented by Mr. Rushell.

Mr. Rushell Herren along with Mr. Bobby Joe Kerr were also presented a crystal truck for 10 years of service to the company.

Congratulations to all those who won safety awards for the year. We are so proud of the safety culture LB3 has, however we can’t do it without these great men and women that do such a great job! Also proud of our very own Chuck Floyd who finished runner up for the Alabama Driver of the year in 2024.

A little delayed but wanted to give a shout out to our LB3 team on another successful LB3 TDC. I’d say one of our most successful yet. Congratulations to “Our Rookie” Charlie Salter on winning. Charlie continues to strive to be one of the best as he is the regiening Alabama Grand Champion.

Nathan Heflin finished 2nd and Kenna Craft finished 3rd. Charlie doesn’t meet the qualifications in participating at the state level since he hasn’t been with us a year just yet so Nathan and Kenna will represent LB3 this week at the Alabama TDC. This will be Kenna’s first trip and we are excited for him.

So thankful we were able to get another young driver to witness a roadside inspection this year. We always enjoy listening to their reactions as they get to be on the side of law enforcement. Thank you to Tim Frazier and ALEA for making it a great day!

Our LB3 Family has lost a legend. Stacy Langford has left this world, but made it clear how ready he was for his eternal one. Stacy was our first hire and helped us become what we are today. He will always have a place in our heart and our prayers are with the family during this time. The trucking industry has lost a true champion.

We don’t get this often but we had a special day Monday. Once a month we have a leaders meeting and we usually provide breakfast (biscuits from Jacks 🤷🏼‍♂️). This month however one of our leaders wanted to cook for us so being that breakfast is my favorite meal, he twisted my arm and I agreed. Joe Edwards treated us to a feast. He cooked up biscuits, bacon, ham, sausage, grits and omelettes if you wanted (omelettes any way you wanted them too). It was so so good. Thought I was in Gatlinburg. Since our home office is in my grandparents old farm house it brought back such fond memories.

Joe served in the Army for 8 years where he was a cook (Steven Seagal was also, just saying). He has now given 23 years of his life to driving a truck. Joe is one of the classiest persons you will ever meet. His kindness and humility are unmatched. Thank you Joe for all you do for not only LB3 but everyone you come in contact with.
