Today is bittersweet as it marks the last day we will be commercially hauling. This business has been fun and extremely interesting. We’ve seen a lot of the country. Made it to 46 states. Driven in some pretty horrendous conditions to meet timelines. All while making a few dollars. But the amount of time spent away from my family ended up not being conducive to what I consider part of the American Dream. I’ve secured a great paying job with a great company that I’m extremely familiar with that puts me home every night and weekend. I’d like to thank everyone that supported us over these last 3 years. But most of all I’d like to thank my amazing wife, Carey, and my 4 great beautiful children, Mikala, Aiden, Ava, and Sophie, for supporting me unconditionally through the years.

It’s been a roller coaster of stress and worry over that past 12 days. On January, 24th while doing a mid trip walk around and check of the trailer we found that both main frame beams were broken. The break went almost all the way down to the bottom of the beam. We had to pull out of the job we were committed to in order to get the trailer home safely. I thought that was it. My business is probably closing. I put in a call to Big Tex after reading my warranty and finding that the trailer had a 3 year structural warranty. They informed me that I needed to submit pictures and last 90 days of BOLs. 10 days went by before I got a decision from them that they would honor the warranty and replace my entire 2016 model trailer with a brand new 2019 model. We picked it up today at Big Tex of Greensboro. I’m very thankful and impressed that Big Tex Trailers was an honest company to deal with.

Ran 2 loads of this smoke/fire damaged paper from Shelby, NC to Charlotte today. At least 4 more trailer fulls left. There was a fire at the factory and these are going to a recycling plant. Each roll weighs about 3200 lbs and 120” wide. I believe it was some sort of tissue paper
