🌱 WEEDS AND MORE WEEDS…
With zero or limited early flushes of volunteer wheat and grassy w**ds this season, we could be setting ourselves up for some heavy w**d pressure once moisture returns.
This is where w**d ID becomes critical. Downy brome, Italian ryegrass, true cheat, wild oats, cereal rye and even broadleaf w**ds can all require different herbicide programs.
For now, let’s focus on Italian ryegrass, especially with rain chances returning to the forecast.
PRE/Residual Options for Italian Ryegrass
Anthem Flex
• Group 15 + Group 14
• Provides the residual grass control, targeting germinating ryegrass before or shortly after emergence.
Zidua SC
• Group 15
• Provides residual control of Italian ryegrass and several other small-seeded grasses.
Zidua SC and Anthem Flex:
• Delayed PRE timing is similar: approximately 80% of germinated wheat should have at least 0.5in shoot, up until wheat spiking.
• Early POST applications can be made from wheat spiking through the 4th tiller.
• At least 0.5in of rainfall or irrigation to activate the herbicide before ryegrass germination and emergence.
START CLEAN. GET THE RESIDUAL DOWN. GET IT ACTIVATED. STAY AHEAD OF THE WEEDS!
