02/18/2024

Today we received a call from border patrol asking us to respond to a MVA at U.S. customs. After customs reviewed the camera footage of the accident they found the truck to be traveling approximately 50 to 60 mph in a 10 mph speed zone. The truck lost control on a down hill in the snow/ice and wrecked into a brand new building at customs. The frame of the truck is bent in multiple places making the truck frame look like an accordion. The trailer took severe damage as well including blowing 3 tires and breaking at least one axle completely free from the frame. The truck broke off a fire hydrant and the protection poles remain standing as the frame of the truck wrapped around them. The truck struck and cause a lot of damage to the building as well including blowing a walk in door completely out of the door frame. The driver of the truck was extremely lucky as he walked away with no injuries. We lifted the truck over top of the concrete poles to get the truck back into the driving lane then dragged the truck away from the building. A wrecker from Canada was going to come down to the border crossing to tow the truck and trailer back to Canada where it’s from.

Challenging recovery we had tonight. Company told us the truck was stuck in the roadway and just needed a simple tug just a few feet. When we arrived we found a fully loaded truck sitting on a 45 degree angle. The only reason it didn’t roll over was all the snow against the low side holding it up. With a load that sat high inside the trailer the possibility of it rolling was extremely high during the recovery. We were successfully able to keep the truck and trailer upright and get it back to the highway. Driver was extremely lucky as he came to a rest about 20 to 30 feet from a 10 to 20 foot drop off into a drainage culvert

Our drivers out here doing everything they can to stay safe and keeping the roads cleared. This accident was definitely not an easy one but we over came diverse conditions and got the truck out of the river safely. One of our drivers had to get into a kayak and paddled out to the truck trying to dodge the ice chucks flowing down river in a very strong current. Another safe recovery and a job well done.

A 19-year-old Theresa man faced slippery conditions as his truck went off the road into the Indian River Sunday.

This past weekend we received a call from a customer in need of assistance to recover a vehicle. When we arrived on scene we found a Chevy Camaro that had been stolen 3 years or so prior to it being found. The vehicle was inside a building in a cow pasture so we definitely had a challenge ahead of us. We were able to winch the car out of the building then pull it to the road where it was loaded on a flatbed and transported to a family member’s home.

Today was a beautiful day to work along side our friends at Seaway Marine Group LLC. Hauling barges from the water to a storage yard for the winter. Not a bad day to find 3 of our trucks out enjoying the view of the river. We received a call last night from the state police to recover a side by side that had fallen over a massive embankment. The driver and the passenger were both extracted with only minor injuries. To prevent further injuries we determined it would be in everyone’s best interest if the recovery was done today with how steep the drop off was with very little room to work. Even with all of the diverse conditions of the job we were able to recover the utv safely.

I apologize as it has been way too long since our last post. However please know it’s because we have been focused on providing the best possible service we can for all of our customers. Here are some photo shots one of our drivers got while working with Seaway Marine Group LLC hauling barges and other equipment to a bridge job site. Today proved to be a very interesting day. A railroad car came loose from the rest of the train and rolled away. At the end of this rail line there is a special block in place to cause the cars to derail to stop them from making it to the main rail line resulting in a run away car. This block did it’s job perfectly causing one end of the car to derail and brought it to a dead stop. With the help of very knowledgeable group of people from the railroad company and a special “butterfly” attachment they fix to the rail we were able to place the car back on the tracks. With the help of a bulldozer pushing the back of the car and Big Papa pulling on the front we were able to get the car weighing in at 267,000 pounds back on the tracks in no time.

The Christmas blizzard of 2022. We would like to thank our crew for all of their hard work this holiday weekend. This storm definitely brought on many different challenges with heavy snowfall, high winds, and severely cold temperatures. This will be a storm that will be talked about for years to come.

Today we received a call for a box truck that was in an accident with another vehicle -causing the box truck spin completely around in the roadway and flip onto its side in the ditch. We arrived on scene in DeKalb Junction as soon as we could. We found the truck on its side with extensive damage. We were able to keep traffic moving, safely preform our recovery and got the truck back to our location for further evaluation of damage for the customer.
