A new group of predominately Spanish speaking motorcoach operators have come together to form the Hispanic Motorcoach Council/El Consejo Hispano de Autobúses (HMC) under the umbrella of the American Bus Association. The group currently consists of roughly 50 member motorcoach operators and is looking forward to adding to its growing ranks. We invite you to join us, as the HMC offers support (throu

gh networking), knowledge and information related to security issues, safety risks, legislative oversight and government processes and regulations. Our goal is to make sure that each of our members are kept well informed of developments within the industry, delivering each and every one of our members the tools that allows them to establish long-term strategies and success as well as implementation of short-term actions. As a member of the HMC and ABA, you are entitled to a variety of association benefits that will serve your unique needs: a legislative voice, regulatory watchdog activities, money-saving services, connections to other operators and suppliers, regular communications, an annual meeting, specialized safety training and much more. The membership of the organization is comprised of dedicated professional individuals, business owners and affiliated personnel who have a common interest in providing the highest quality and safest possible motorcoach service to all passengers and are interested in working with the ever-growing Hispanic business community in the motorcoach industry throughout the United States.

Texas DPS Inspections Cause Delays for Commercial Trucks at U.S.-Mexico Border

Commercial trucks crossing into the U.S. face delays due to secondary inspections by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) at the Ysleta-Zaragoza and Bridge of the Americas bridges. Trucks experienced increased wait times, with around 450 vehicles stuck on the Mexican side over the weekend. Some drivers reported over 10-hour waits.

Manuel Sotelo, President of Mexico's National Chamber of Cargo Transportation, notes this is the fourth such incident in four years. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) expands cargo processing hours at nearby ports of entry in response. The inspections, initiated by TX DPS, aim to enhance safety but have caused uncontrollable delays, states CBP.
