That's a wrap on EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026! ✈️
Our final day at the world's greatest aviation celebration was a memorable one.
The Airline Dispatch Federation hosted a forum presentation on Weather, Delays, and Cancellations, giving attendees an inside look at how Flight Dispatchers work behind the scenes to make operational decisions that keep airline passengers and crews safe. We were excited to see a great turnout and appreciate everyone who attended and asked thoughtful questions.
One of the day's highlights was joining Mike Karrels, a Delta Air Lines Flight Dispatcher, in his Beechcraft Musketeer for a flight into Oshkosh. Experiencing the famous Fisk Arrival firsthand was an unforgettable opportunity and a great reminder of the precision, communication, and situational awareness required to safely operate into one of the busiest airports in the world during AirVenture.
To close out an incredible week, American Airlines flew its Flagship Valor – Medal of Honor aircraft into Oshkosh, providing a fitting finale and a powerful tribute to our nation's Medal of Honor recipients.
As AirVenture comes to a close, we want to reflect on why events like this matter.
The Airline Dispatch Federation is proud to represent the Flight Dispatch profession at AirVenture because outreach is one of our most important missions. Every year we meet aspiring aviators, students, pilots, aviation enthusiasts, and industry professionals who may have never heard of Flight Dispatch. By sharing our experiences and explaining the critical role dispatchers play in airline safety and operations, we're helping inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
Everything we do at AirVenture is made possible by volunteers. Our members donate their time because they believe in promoting the profession and giving back to the aviation community.
A special thank you goes to Mitch Barnes and Gregg Dubin, Flight Dispatchers who volunteered their time throughout the week to provide photos, videos, and daily social media coverage, helping share the story of Flight Dispatch with thousands of people around the world.
