On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law, marking a major step forward in protecting the rights of Americans with disabilities.

The landmark legislation helped remove barriers in employment, public spaces, transportation, communications, and other areas of daily life, expanding access and opportunity for millions of people across the country. At the signing ceremony, President Bush described the ADA as a “declaration of equality,” reflecting his belief that every American should be able to participate fully in our nation’s civic, social, and economic life.

More than three decades later, the ADA remains one of President Bush’s most enduring achievements and a powerful part of his legacy of service, dignity, and inclusion.

On this day… July 8, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was read for the very first time, in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, to the citizens of the newly formed United States. Shortly after, in New York, the king of England Statue was torn down along with the crowns along the fencing, which still stands today, in Bowling Green Park. They used the iron/lead from the statue and crowns to make ammunition which they used to defeat the British. How ironic. 😎

Let’s give a shoutout to France, The Netherlands, and Spain… without them, we would not be celebrating our wonderful countries 250th birthday. Have a great day!

Flying into Newark I saw the NY skyline … and lo and behold Lady Liberty herself! How amazing and comforting.
