Reservation System Enhancements Letter to Membership

July 26th, 2023 from Scott Ward, VP, Freedom Boat Club -

Corporate Territories

Good morning, Freedom Boat of Rhode Island –

With peak season underway, I hope you, your family and friends are enjoying the Club and making memories on the water. As we continue to look for opportunities to enhance your experience and provide greater access to the fleet, I’m excited to announce that we’ll be adding additional timeslots for reservations at the Newport location, starting August 7th.

As an important note, we are continuing to limit sales in the market to increase your access and focus our efforts on optimizing the experience for our current members.

Below are some additional details about this enhancement, what you can expect and next steps on timing:

What’s changing:

After reviewing trip data from our reservation system, we’ve identified trends in the average duration of trips, as well as the most desirable departure/return times. These insights have provided guidance on the new reservation timeslots that we are adding to better align with how you are using the boats today. And, in other Freedom clubs, we’ve seen similar trends in member behavior, implemented these scheduling enhancements, and unlocked greater boat availability for all members.

Additionally, this update aligns with our continued efforts to secure additional slips in our existing locations, as well as expand our footprint into new locations over time as the marina landscape allows. We look forward to keeping you informed of our progress and welcome your feedback on any opportunities in the market.

The new timeslots that will be available within the reservation system are:

Morning: 8 am – 11 am (1 reservation)

Afternoon: 12 pm – 3 pm (1 reservation)

Evening: 4 pm – Sunset (1 reservation)

Full Day, Early Return: 8 am – 3 pm (2 reservations)

Full Day, Late Departure: 12 pm – Sunset (2 reservations)

Similar updates will be made for the Fall Scheduling starting September 5th.

When will it take effect:

The timeslot reservation changes will take effect on August 7th for our Newport location only.

How does this change impact existing reservations:

If you have an existing reservation within the system for on or after August 7th, we will adjust those reservations to align with the timeslot enhancements and ensure you maintain your reservation, including:

Existing morning reservations will align to the newly created “morning” slot

Existing afternoon reservations will align to the newly created “evening” slot

Should you wish to modify your reservations, please don’t hesitate to do so after July 27th when the new schedule will be available in the reservation system.

Final thoughts:

It is our goal to deliver exceptional member experiences, and through this update, we expect this will create greater boat availability for you. We continue to seek other opportunities to enhance your experience moving forward, and as always, we welcome your feedback.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 401-250-3602, and we look forward to seeing you on the docks soon.

Regards,

Scott Ward
