Not all “Punta Cana” resorts are created equal.

One of the biggest mistakes travelers make is assuming every resort in Punta Cana offers the same experience. The truth? Your resort’s exact location can completely change your vacation.

🏖️ Some beaches have calmer, crystal-clear water.
🌊 Others may experience more seaweed during certain times of the year.
🍹 Some resorts are close to nightlife and excursions.
🌴 Others are tucked away for a quiet, relaxing escape.

A resort may be marketed as “Punta Cana,” but it could actually be located in Bávaro, Uvero Alto, Cap Cana, or another area—each with its own vibe, beach conditions, and travel times.

That’s why I always recommend choosing the right location first and the resort second.

The best vacation isn’t about booking the most popular resort—it’s about booking the one that matches your travel style.

✈️ What most people don’t realize about booking travel…

The trip itself is only part of the process. Behind the scenes, I’m spending hours researching destinations, comparing resorts, reviewing cruise itineraries, checking cabin locations, and making sure every recommendation is the right fit for my clients.

This week alone I’ve been:

🏝️ Researching resorts throughout the Dominican Republic to find the best beaches, pools, dining, and overall experiences for different travel styles.

🚢 Diving deep into Virgin Voyages to help clients navigate cabin options, itineraries, and all the unique experiences these adults-only cruises offer.

🏔️ Comparing Alaska cruise itineraries aboard Princess Cruises to identify the best routes, ports, and experiences for travelers wanting to make the most of their time in Alaska.

🎢 Planning a family getaway to Branson, balancing activities, accommodations, dining, and budget-friendly fun for all ages.

This is the part of being a travel advisor that I absolutely love. Every destination, cruise, and itinerary is different, and I enjoy doing the research so my clients don’t have to.

What most people don’t realize about booking travel…

It’s not just about finding a good hotel.

This week, Europe is experiencing a major heat wave with temperatures topping 100°F in some destinations. While social media is showing beautiful photos of Italy, France, and Spain, travelers on the ground are also dealing with extreme heat, transportation disruptions, and changes to sightseeing schedules.

This is where a travel advisor becomes valuable.

When I plan trips, I’m not just looking at hotels and flights. I’m monitoring weather patterns, destination conditions, safety updates, transportation changes, and seasonal trends that could impact your experience.

A destination can be beautiful and still require strategic planning.

💡 Travel Tip:
If you’re planning Europe in the summer, consider:

48 hours before takeoff, I almost canceled everything.

It was the day before my first solo FAM (familiarity) trip. With some training, I received a free resort stay and only had to pay for my flight. I couldn’t bring a companion on this trip, so it was up to Alex to hold the fort down for 4 days. I had never traveled outside of the US on my own. I was a little nervous, but I’m pretty independent so I was ready to go. So, the day before we had a horrible ice storm. Iykyk, we have to drive about an 1.5 to the Kansas City airport from Warrensburg. I debated heavily, but decided to venture out.

The drive was brutal. I went about 30 mph the whole drive. I slid all over in certain areas, had people flying by me, and my hands were sore from the white-knuckled grip I maintained the entire ride. I finally arrived at the airport.

Caught my plane, transferred planes again, went through customs, and I vividly remember walking down the terminal to find my driver and having this feeling of independence. I felt so empowered. At this moment , I was like,”hey you! You can do anything.”

Not only did I grow on this trip, but I met 3 amazing women too. We laughed, learned, and bonded. This is why I came back with a feeling of love and wanting to do more girls trips.

I would’ve missed out on these moments of growth, peace, networking, and empowerment. Not to mention, the absolute beauty that surrounded us. I saw the most majestic sunset I’ve ever seen.

🌴 What I wish people knew before going to Mexico…

Not every beach in Mexico is swimmable.

Some areas have:
🌊 rough currents
🪸 rocky shorelines
🚩 seasonal seaweed

If you’re dreaming of calm turquoise water, your destination choice matters A LOT.

That’s why matching clients to the RIGHT area is just as important as choosing the resort. Before you book, let’s chat and make sure you pick the spot that’s right for you!
