❤️ The Trip That Brought Us Closer. 🚗
Some trips are more than just vacations. Some become part of your love story. ❤️
Alex and I had been dating for almost a year when we decided to take our first BIG family road trip together as a blended family. Looking back, I had no idea just how much that trip would mean to me.
We packed up the kids and hit the road, headed to Chicago to explore for a day, making our second stop in Michigan to visit his sister. From there, we headed to Philadelphia for more family time, boating, jet skis, and plenty of shenanigans before making our way to New York City!
And somewhere along those miles, I realized Alex was the one. ❤️
It wasn’t some grand romantic gesture. It was watching how his family welcomed me and my boys with open arms. The kindness, the hospitality, the laughter, and the way they made us feel like we’d always belonged.
His brother became our very own personal NYC tour guide (and probably deserved a paycheck 😂). He took us all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, sharing the history behind buildings and landmarks. And of course, the former geography and history teacher in me couldn’t resist adding a few fun facts of my own!
We experienced SO many firsts together!
🌊 My boys saw and played in the ocean for the very first time at Jones Beach.
🚇 We figured out the NYC subway.
🍕 Ate some seriously amazing New York pizza.
🚲 Rode bikes through Central Park and did an evening of disco roller skating.
⛴️ Took the ferry and soaked in those incredible city views.
🎣 Spent a day deep sea fishing and then eating what we caught.
🌆 Walked what felt like a million miles and experienced the bright lights of Times Square.
But here’s what I remember most…
It wasn’t the landmarks, the food, or even the destinations.
It was us. Becoming a family.
It was seeing my boys experience things they’d never experienced before. Watching relationships grow. Laughing until our stomachs hurt. Making memories with people who were becoming such an important part of our lives.
That trip gave us something we couldn’t have bought at any souvenir shop. It gave us connection, belonging, and a little glimpse of the future we were building together.
And THAT is exactly why I started Never JUST A Trip Travel.
Because I know firsthand that travel isn’t just about where you go. It’s about what happens along the way.
Sometimes it’s the trip where your kids experience the ocean for the first time. Sometimes it’s where two families begin to feel like one. Sometimes it’s where you realize you’ve found your forever person.
You might forget what you spent on a vacation, but you’ll never forget how it made you feel.
So if you’ve been putting off that family vacation, couples getaway, or bucket-list adventure because life is busy or the timing isn’t perfect, consider this your sign.
Make the memories. Take the pictures (I didn’t take many because I was too busy being present). Go somewhere new together.
And when you’re ready, I’d love to help you plan a trip that becomes part of YOUR story.
❤️ Never JUST A Trip Travel
Because it’s never just a trip. It’s the memories, the milestones, and the moments that stay with you.
