Traveling with kids is hard !
Its something thats heard time and time again.
And its not wrong
Going to your favorite spot and staying there for week or two is one thing.
Traveling, packing up day in and day out, cooking and camping is something entirely different.
Children's needs dont just go away on the road. In fact they might even multiply.
Not being in a routine anymore creates certain challenges. But for every challenge theres a reward.
That reward is undeniable. Development.
Children will be exposed to every culture, every walk of life. They will see the good and the bad.
Seeing it first hand, my kids grow in every way with every trip. Rather it's across town or across the country.
Seeing how other people live and thrive every day. Developing empathy for the world around them.
Improving their problem solving skills. Let's face it. Things rarely go as planed.
So it teaches problem solving skills. Improves planning skills. Which is a life skill. Watching you and how you react to a certain situation is a learning opportunity and invaluable.
Exposing them to diversity is never a bad thing. with all the recent super bowl stuff. Its aparent that some people could use some diversity in their lives.
Independence. Id love nothing more than my kids to stay kids. But eventually they will have to become fully functional adults.
Traveling with them has promoted independence. They simply picked it up on their own. Packing up their own things. Getting their own snacks. Navigating their own problems. Yes, believe it or not. Kids have problems to. Just like adults.
Gratitude, it will help them connect with world and whats going on around them. Appreciate it. Let them be involved, daily task will certainly take longer but the reward is huge.
The family bond that happens is unexplainable and I dont think can be replicated with anything else. If you ask your kids what they got for Christmas in a year. Most likely they wont remember. If they're asked where they went, what they experienced, who they met, things they seen or did. Those memories will be there in some form.
Travel. Can be many things. It can be a huge trip across the country. It can be a walk to the local park. The skills needed for either are the same both for you and your child. So dont think because you cant do one your shouldnt do anything. Do whatever make sense. A walk to the park. A day at the museum. A camping trip.
Stay wild.
