Discovering Monstropolis at Walt Disney World

Monstropolis is starting to take shape as construction continues at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort! Steel rises behind the walls, new details emerge almost daily, and with every milestone, the world of Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. is roaring to life. Through a creative collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios, guests will finally be able to take in all the monstrous sights, tastes and sounds of Sulley and Mike’s world.

But this isn’t just a new land taking shape, it’s the beginning of a new story.

Monstropolis — the monster city now powered by laughter — is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from their world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … why are the doors finally opening to us?

As it turns out, the answer is already making headlines in the city of Monstropolis. Through the pages of the Monstropolis Horn, the city’s official newspaper, monsters are talking about a “historic decision” that’s about to seriously mix things up for monster kind.

Enter: The Department of Human Relations

As Monstropolis evolved, so did its connection with the human world. Guesgts may have heard of the HR department, but they haven’t heard of this HR department … that’s right, we're talking about the Department of Human Relations. This new team established by the city has been tasked with sinking their teeth – and in some cases, their very BIG teeth – into helping monsters better understand humans as welcomed guests.

The newly instated department has been spearheading a moment that was once thought impossible: inviting humans into Monstropolis for the very first time. And that invitation has a name.

H.U.M.A.N. Day: A Celebration with a Purpose

H.U.M.A.N. Day, short for “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice,” marks a historic milestone for the city. Part celebration, part cultural exchange, the event is designed to introduce humans to life inside Monstropolis while helping monsters discover that humans are not so frightening after all. Now that’s something to snarl – ahem, smile about!

Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.

Exploring the Streets of Monstropolis

As more of Monstropolis comes into view, one thing is clear: move over, cities of the human world! Monstropolis is going to be the next big vacation destination!

Storefronts line the streets, industries hum alongside everyday life, and every corner reflects the quirky, character-filled world fans fell in love with. And of course, it wouldn’t be Monstropolis without a few iconic stops along the way. Places like Harryhausen’s — yes, THAT legendary restaurant monsters line up for — and the Glob Theater help bring the city to life, adding even more personality, energy, and can’t-miss moments around every corner.

There’s still plenty more to uncover, so keep an eye or two (or six or eight!) on Disney Travel News for more details as Monstropolis gets ready to roll out the welcome mat on H.U.M.A.N. Day.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Dates & Teaser Treats

On select autumn nights, the sun sets over Cinderella Castle as Magic Kingdom park transforms into the center for all things spooky and fun. For those who yearn for ghastly vibes, it’s time to start planning their next night of magical frights. Today we’re sharing the 2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates, when tickets go on sale, and a few details on what to expect at this year’s celebration.

What is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticketed event that happens each year at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Offerings include exclusive entertainment, Halloween-themed food and beverages, photo opportunities, exclusive merchandise, and character greetings.

Guests can expect a party that offers the ultimate family Halloween celebration: Show off their most creative Disney-themed costume and see the Headless Horseman stalk the streets. Gather candy around every corner, see their favorite rides get a little spookier — and maybe even run into a witch or three.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Dates

The 2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates will run from August 7 to October 31. The party runs only on specific weekend or weekday nights, so be sure to consult the calendar of dates when planning a trip.

2026 Party Dates

August 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30
September 1, 4, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 29
October 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31

Planning Tip: To help conjure your fiendish pursuits, note that in August, party dates occur on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This is also true for September with the addition of one Thursday date on September 24. In October, ghouls can descend upon Magic Kingdom every Thursday; most Fridays, Sundays, most Tuesdays; and Saturday on Halloween.

New and Returning Entertainment in 2026

Now that you’ve got the dates, here are a few sneak peeks at new and returning entertainment all around Magic Kingdom.

New this year, Stitch is hosting an ever-changing dance party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland with the help of his friends Lilo and Angel. After getting his paws on Lilo’s Costume Trunk, every accessory he tries on will spark a theme swap and keep the party playfully unpredictable all night long.

And, of course, a little spider told us that the Cadaver Dans will be back again this year to sing in soulful harmony.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket prices vary per date and will be available for purchase starting on May 5 for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green. Tickets will be available starting on May 12 for all other guests. Party dates often sell out, so our best tip is to plan early and purchase tickets in advance for your desired party date.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party Ticket discounts are once again available for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members.

Planning Tip: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM before the party kicks off at 7:00 PM. This means guests have up to 8 hours to celebrate all across the park.

Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary

For some guests, Halloween dreams include a bag overflowing with candy. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of the best trick-or-treat destinations, with over a dozen opportunities to collect candy throughout the park, marked on guests' party map. And this year, guests can expect even more fun than ever before with some familiar (and fiendish) faces surprising guests along the trails.

At each stop, cast members give out handfuls of Mars Wrigley favorites like M&Ms, Snickers and Starburst. And no worries if guests' forgot their pumpkin bucket at home: Each guest will receive complimentary treat bags for candy collection (that includes adults).

Trick-or-treaters do not have to be in costume to collect candy. Guests are encouraged to dress up in creative Halloween costumes. Guests should be sure to follow official costume guidelines.

Exclusive Character Greetings

Guests can meet Sally and Jack Skellington at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at one of the many character stops that feature exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities. At Town Square Theater, Mickey and Minnie will greet guests together in their Halloween costumes. Pooh will be in his bumblebee costume, and you may spot festive royal couples ready to say hello, like Ariel and Eric and Aladdin and Jasmine.

Stay tuned for our complete guide on which characters guests can meet — and who will be in special festive attire.

For even more creepy character fun, guests should keep their eyes peeled because they may see new and returning Disney Villains appear as you creep by through the streets.

Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade

In this whimsical production, Mickey, Minnie and their friends have donned cute costumes to lead a parade of waltzing ghosts, Disney Princesses and treacherous villains. Guests can expect to see characters like Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph.

In 2026, the Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade will again take place at 8:15 PM to allow plenty of time for little ones to enjoy the celebration.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

It’s been three hundred years, right down to the day … or it seems that long since we’ve seen the Sanderson Sisters take the stage. This fan-favorite show is both hilarious and bone-chilling as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary try their haphazard best to cast a spell.

It turns out that they need a little help from their friends, who happen to be some of the most nefarious Disney Villains, including the likes of Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Dr. Facilier, and The Evil Queen. Guests will help add ingredients to the cauldron with lots of clapping and singing along.

Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular

As the party creeps closer to the witching hour, guests are invited to a spooky story time with the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, who has transformed Cinderella Castle into a haunted house. Watch as Zero leads Mickey and Friends inside, where spiderwebs, skeletons, and Grim Grinning Ghosts await.

Dazzling projections will transform the castle into a spooky fantasy while the sky comes alive with fireworks. Get ready for towering encounters with Ursula, The Queen of Hearts, and Oogie Boogie. Will Mickey and Friends make it out of Jack’s haunted house this time?

New MNSSHP Merch, Food, and More

Check back to peruse the 2026 MNSSHP Foodie Guide — we've got savory foods, sweet treats, and screamingly good snacks.

Exclusive party merch will also be available for purchase at Magic Kingdom to commemorate guests' not-so-scary night of macabre memories.

Once again, a few favorite rides are getting a grim overlay. Expect spellbinding transformations with special lighting and music. Check back to see which attractions are getting the Halloween treatment.

Stay tuned for even more details and shriek peeks of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party entertainment, merchandise, and photo opportunities as they materialize.

Letters from Lakeshore: Updates on Disney World’s Newest Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa

Greetings from the south shores of Bay Lake at Walt Disney World Resort, the future home of Disney Lakeshore Lodge!

We invite you to embark on this journey with us, following Letters from Lakeshore as the proposed nature-inspired resort comes to life. Like a collection of postcards, each update will share new details – from first looks to finishing touches, with exclusive behind-the-scenes moments along the way.

April 21, 2026: Celebrate the Beauty and Magic of Nature at Disney Lakeshore Lodge

Introducing Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a waterfront retreat where guests and their loved ones will discover the wonder of nature through the artistry of Disney storytelling.

Projected to open at Walt Disney World Resort in summer 2027, Disney Lakeshore Lodge will celebrate the beauty and magic of nature as seen through the eyes of Disney artists and storytellers. Inspired by Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors, the resort’s design will pay tribute to decades of animated stories rooted in nature, with subtle nods to classic films — from the lush forests of Bambi and the colorful winds of Pocahontas to the sweeping glacial landscapes of Brother Bear.

Nestled along the tranquil shores of Bay Lake, Disney Lakeshore Lodge will invite families to slow down, take in their surroundings, and create cherished memories together. Spectacular floor‑to‑ceiling windows will welcome natural sunlight and showcase views of the local flora and fauna, allowing the outdoors to flow seamlessly into the architecture, artwork, and ambiance.

With 967 thoughtfully designed rooms, this new addition to the Disney Resorts Collection will offer a variety of ways to stay, from cozy studios to spacious suites. Many rooms will offer peaceful views of Bay Lake by day and spectacular views of Magic Kingdom park fireworks by night. The resort will also debut with new one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses along the waterfront, offering families an even closer connection to nature with ample space to relax and unwind.

In the months ahead, we’ll share more about the dining locations, recreational offerings, amenities, and distinctive design details that will bring the spirit of nature and the magic of Disney storytelling to life at Disney Lakeshore Lodge.
