WT Airpark (90TT Waelder TX) is hosting its first FLY OUT / FLY IN on Saturday, Nov 2! We'll have hot air balloons flying out around sunrise and then planes can start flying in at 9:30. Drive-ins welcome!

**Notes for pilots: There are power lines at both ends of the runway. Planes will be parked off the 80' wide runway; please aim to touch down before or after the parked planes. The parking area is not as smooth as the runway, so recommend stopping on the runway and pushing back into your parking space. We'll be there to lend a hand and will be on 122.9. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

We received county approval for our lot subdivision last week - now looking forward to putting our plans in motion for improving the airpark! Lots will be available for reservation / sale soon.

The runway took shape in a few weeks at the beginning of the year. Leveled, graded, compacted (for a full video, see wtairpark.com/site-plan). Then it was time to watch the grass grow. We had a good bit of winter rye come in, and the Bermuda grass started establishing. Unfortunately with the HOT summer, the Bermuda died back. Waiting on some rain to see how much will come back and reseed as needed!

We spent a few months clearing the runway of mesquite trees to get ready for dirt work – if you’re not familiar with mesquite trees, they are the weeds of Texas, which have to be dug out to the roots to get rid of them. And they’re covered in thorns that will pierce boot soles. Very satisfying to pull them out and burn them. After a few months of work, we could see from end-to-end on the runway.

This is where we started. The WT Airpark project began with three pilots / airplane owners in Waelder, Texas, who wanted to fly planes from their backyard. They pooled their land, and we wound up with a beautiful 300-acre tract. My favorite things about this piece of land: big sky, fields of wildflowers in the spring, and oak trees throughout.
