"You'll need to arrange transport." 🏥
Five words at hospital discharge — and suddenly you're deciding between an ambulance and medical transport with zero information and a parent who can't sit up. 🥺
Here's the 3-question test that sorts it in 60 seconds 👇 (ask IN ORDER, stop at the first yes)
1️⃣ Is it an emergency — now or could it become one during the ride? 🚨 → Call 911. Always. No exceptions.
2️⃣ Do they need medical care DURING the trip (monitored oxygen, IVs, cardiac monitoring)? ⚕️ → Non-emergency ambulance — the hospital arranges it.
3️⃣ Medically stable, but needs equipment or a helping hand — wheelchair, stretcher, door-to-door? ✅ → That's NEMT. That's us.
And the sentence that saves families THOUSANDS 💰:
🛗 A stretcher is how you ride. An ambulance is what happens during the ride.
Stable but can't sit up ≠ ambulance. That's non-emergency stretcher transport — dignified, on time, and a fraction of the cost. 🙌
