It was a 'Toy Story' evening in downtown Vinita on Thursday night as the annual Vinita Christmas Parade of Lights was filled with floats depicting this year’s theme.
It was also a sentimental one for Elliott Truck Line, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary and served as grand marshal of the parade. This year’s Christmas parade was the last that the Elliott Truck Line logo will be seen in a parade, as the longtime company will change its name in the future.
Parade emcee J.B. Robison said it was an emotional moment to take in as he watched the large lighted semi makes its way downtown, noting that in all parades of the past, which Elliott Truck Line has been part of, Robison would always know the parade end was near when their truck would be near the end of the procession. This year it was different since they led the way.
In addition to being named grand marshal, Elliott Truck Line also won the Sleigh Ride Award for Best Vehicle entry.
The parade, which was coordinated by local and community volunteers, featured 55 entries, with nice weather in the 60s.
Other winners included the Boys & Girls Club winning the Best Use of Theme Award with characters from 'Toy Story.'
Hayes Construction also didn’t disappoint with their giant vehicle lavished in colorful lights, which earned them the Rudolph Award for Best Use of Lights.
The Joyful Dance Studio float included a dancing prince and ballerina from a scene out of 'The Nutcracker,' as well as a troupe of dancers dressed in red and jingle bells stopping along the parade route to perform a brief dance. They won the Elf Award for Best Youth Participation.

Our very own Casey Driggers took this pic today at the local Career Day for the school of Upshur County at the Gilmer Civic Center, Gilmer, Texas.

We don't hire kids right out of school, but we participate in these types of programs to show young people that college isn't their only option, that Professional Truck Drivers can be very successful and support their families' hopes and dreams.

It starts early, and our industry has needed a makeover for a while. Thank you to Casey for helping show these kids what they can become and thank you to our Professional Drivers who display day-in and day-out that our career is an excellent choice for the next generation.

Kimber R. Jones, Chief Financial Officer - 10/22/2021

"It is with great excitement that we announce the joining of our two operating companies, Custom Commodities Transport and Elliott Truck Line. As of January 1, 2022, the two related companies will become better together as one, Custom Commodities Transport. Legacy Elliott personnel will merge into the new Chemical Division of Custom Commodities Transport.

The merger comes as Elliott Truck Line celebrates its 75th year in service. The company was founded in 1946 by Vince Elliott, as the sole Driver in one truck, one trailer operation. Custom Commodities Transport shares a similar origin story formed by David Stevenson at the very same headquarters occupied today. Elliott Truck Line, Inc was acquired in 2009 from the Elliott family by Custom Commodities Transport’s parent company, Broson, Inc. Both carriers are leaders in the bulk truckload industry. Elliott Truck Line is predominantly a liquid chemical carrier of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Custom Commodities Transport is a carrier of dry bulk materials, food-grade, non-food grade, and Kosher products.

We are excited for the two to join forces to capture a stronger portion of the bulk transportation market. Both companies are currently managed by the same team of leaders in the Gilmer, TX headquarters, all of whom will continue to lead through the merging of the personnel, equipment, and beyond. We will continue to service our customers with the same benchmark attitude and commitment, but we will perform it better together as ONE."

A Note from The President…
“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention. Sincere effort, Intelligent direction and Skillful ex*****on; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.”
The note above is my true belief in what makes Championship Teams happen when each individual on the team truly believes does his or her job as trained to do.
We have some of the highest performing individuals in our organization that make great things happen each day…but if only one of our team members takes a short cut or does not meet the quality standards that is required it really causes problems in many ways.
It is my desire not to ask favors but to pay for actual work performed to do the job correctly as trained or instructed to do. I understand that other companies may do things differently but we are moving to becoming a Benchmark of Quality that is unique in the industry and that requires a discipline of doing things right all of the time and a mindset of true quality.
We are continually working to correct problems that arise or need correcting…but we cannot fix problems if we do not understand what the problem is. I would ask that anyone that has a problem tune in to the weekly TEAMS meetings (we pay $35.00 for your participation) on Thursday or Friday of each week held at 1:00pm to discuss before the group any problems or make comments so that we may fix, or contact management directly if you feel you need to discuss in private.
I appreciate your diligence and attention to detail in doing the job right.
Sincerely,
David L. Stevenson

Elliott Truck Line

After many years in the trucking industry Vince Elliott, former CEO of Elliott Truck Line, Inc., had more than experience, he also had perspective. He relied on that perspective when he viewed the state of the transportation industry from the past to today.

Mr. Elliott founded Elliott Truck Line in 1946, after serving 4 1/2 years in the Armed Forces. Starting with a new 1946 International tractor and a new 20 ft. Trailmobile, he hauled livestock at first. By 1949, Elliott Truck Line began to diverisfy into the tank transportation business, and transporting liquid and dry products in bulk by 1973.

In 2009, Elliott Truck Line was purchased by Custom Commodities Transport, a major player in the trucking industry in Texas since 1985. With similarities in operation, service and safety, Elliott Truck Line and Custom Commodities continue to push forward into the future. This push led to another expansion in 2019 with the purchase of Tommy Ellis Trucking adding 40 more trucks to the ever growing fleet.

CEO David L. Stevenson strives to be innovative by accessing the newest technologies to provide safety for our drivers and the general motoring public, as well as the very best customer service in the industry.
