Day two at the Cottingham & Butler Transportation | Cottingham & Butler Summit in Schaumburg, IL — and yes, the AAM Network Inc crew is here, as always. Biljana Billie Tomic & Miljko Delic

If it matters to this industry, our people are in the room. Call us the resident nerds of trucking: we show up, we take notes, we ask the uncomfortable questions, and we carry the answers and the new knowledge back to our team and our drivers, where it actually matters.

Two days that earned their place on the calendar. The 2026-27 freight forecast. A straight read from FMCSA. Cargo theft that now operates like organized business. Staged crashes and the courtrooms where carriers are bleeding. AB5, broker transparency, and where the broker-carrier model is heading. Plus keynotes on leadership from John O'Leary and Rorke Denver that landed harder than most.

Huge thanks to Cottingham & Butler & Butler for the organization, the caliber of the presentations, and the knowledge we're carrying home from here.

We're around for the rest of the day — come say hello, ask us anything, and we'll happily answer. That's what we came for.

🚨 REMINDER: BRAKE SAFETY WEEK 2026 IS UNDERWAY

As a reminder from our recent post, Brake Safety Week officially started yesterday, August 23, and runs through August 29.

Across the United States, Canada and Mexico, inspectors are placing additional focus on commercial vehicle brake systems, with brake drums and rotors being this year’s primary focus.

The numbers show why staying prepared matters:

🔹 15.1% of vehicles inspected during Brake Safety Week 2025 were placed out of service for brake-related violations.

🔹 During the unannounced Brake Safety Day in April 2026, the brake-related out-of-service rate reached 14.3%.

🔹 Brake-related defects accounted for 41.1% of all vehicle OOS findings during International Roadcheck 2025.

For drivers and fleets, now is the time to pay extra attention to the basics:

✅ Inspect drums and rotors for cracks, excessive wear and missing pieces
✅ Check air hoses, tubing, brake chambers and pushrod stroke
✅ Confirm automatic slack adjusters are functioning correctly
✅ Review open DVIR defects and close every maintenance issue
✅ Keep inspection records and required documentation current

At AAM Network Inc., safety isn’t something we focus on only during inspection week. It’s part of how we maintain our equipment, support our drivers and keep our trucks moving safely every day of the year.

And to all drivers on the road this week: stay alert, stay prepared and make your pre-trip count. 💪🚛

For more information, inspection statistics, out-of-service criteria and our complete driver and fleet checklist, check out the full article on our blog:

We’ve also asked our Fleet Team to cover Brake Safety Week in their video series, sharing real-world advice, AAM experience and a closer look at how our fleet prepares for inspections.

🎥 Stay tuned.

🚛 Yard Tips with Sam continues!

Our little series from the yard is officially rolling, and we have plenty more coming.

We’ll talk about everything from preparing our trucks for Brake Safety Week, to what a regular day in the life of a Fleet Manager actually looks like, plus a few small things we’ve learned along the way that simply make our lives easier.

Are these tips going to be useful for everyone? Probably not.

Are we saying this is how everyone should do things? Definitely not.

But these are things that work for us, things we’ve learned through experience, and things that have helped make our daily operations a little smoother. And if even one of them helps someone else, why not share it? 💡

So listen to Sam, leave us a comment, hit like and share the video if you enjoy this kind of content. 👇

And a big thank you to Sam for finding the time to do this.

Between preparing trucks, walking the yard, working with drivers, managing the fleet, handling office work and everything else that somehow lands on a Fleet Manager’s desk, he still finds time to grab the camera and support our Marketing Team. 🎥👏

For that, we officially owe him one very good steak of his choice. 🥩

And before anyone says anything, yes, our Fleet Manager loves to eat.

No, he is not fat.

He is very fit. 😂

Stay tuned. More Yard Tips with Sam are coming soon.

NO FAKE SMILES. NO FAKE MILES. 🚛🤝

At AAM Network, everything we do is built on trust, respect, and professionalism.

Just a simple moment between our Fleet Manager and our amazing driver, Freddie.
A genuine smile, a few words of encouragement, and a wish for a safe and successful day, because it’s moments like these that define who we are.

Everyone has their own role, but we all share the same goal: supporting one another and keeping the wheels turning safely every single day.

Wishing everyone a successful workday ahead, and may we always meet each other with a smile like this.

🚛 A Simple Yard Move… or a Lot More Than That?

What seems like a routine task on the yard often requires teamwork, quick thinking, and people who are always ready to step in when needed.

In this episode, our Fleet Operations Manager, Sinisa Sladoje Sladoje , is out in the yard making sure everything is running safely and efficiently. Alongside keeping a close eye on safety (a big shout-out to our Safety Team! 👋), he also lends a hand to a fellow fleet manager after one of their drivers accidentally left the inverter on, leaving the truck with a dead battery.

While relocating trucks and clearing access to our brand-new Freightliner Cascadia, Sam couldn’t resist taking it for a quick drive around the yard. 🚛✨

His reaction says it all… For a moment, it looked like he was ready to trade the office for the driver’s seat again. 😄

Nice try, Sam! You’re always welcome behind the wheel—but only around the parking lot. We still need you in the office! 😂

🎥 Watch the episode and let us know what you think!

Brake Safety Week 2026: Preparation Starts Before the Inspection

Brake Safety Week 2026 takes place August 23–29, with inspectors across the United States, Canada and Mexico placing special focus on brake drums and air disc brake rotors.

The latest numbers show why preparation matters:

15.1% of vehicles inspected during Brake Safety Week 2025 were placed out of service for brake-related violations.

During the unannounced Brake Safety Day in April 2026, the out-of-service rate reached 14.3%, while brake-related defects accounted for 41.1% of all vehicle OOS findings during International Roadcheck 2025.

For drivers and fleets, the priorities are clear:

✅ Inspect drums and rotors for cracks, excessive wear and missing pieces
✅ Check air hoses, tubing, brake chambers and pushrod stroke
✅ Confirm automatic slack adjusters are functioning correctly
✅ Review open DVIR defects and close every maintenance issue
✅ Keep inspection records and required documentation current

At AAM Network Inc., safety is not something we prepare for only during inspection week. It is part of how we maintain our equipment, support our drivers and keep every truck moving safely throughout the year.

The complete article, including inspection statistics, out-of-service criteria and a detailed driver and fleet checklist, is available on our blog. We regularly publish practical content for the trucking industry, drivers, fleet professionals and our colleagues across the operation.

We have also asked our fleet team to include Brake Safety Week in their video series and share some real-world advice, AAM’s experience and how our fleet prepares for inspections.
