Indiana State Police recently completed nearly 4,800 commercial vehicle inspections, uncovering more than 9,400 violations.

Between Aug. 15 and Sept. 15, officers inspected 4,789 commercial vehicles, resulting in 589 drivers and 683 vehicles being placed out of service.

Some of the most common violations included:
• 1,051 speeding violations
• 267 traffic control violations
• 267 overweight violations
• 31 oversize violations

The numbers are a good reminder that safety and compliance need to be a priority every time we hit the road.

Diesel prices are heading in the right direction.

The national average dropped another 18 cents per gallon this week, following a 14-cent decline the week before.

Here in the Midwest, prices fell 24 cents, bringing the average to $6.286 per gallon.

Hopefully, we’ll see more drops in the weeks ahead.

A new executive order temporarily allows red-dyed diesel to be used for highway travel through the end of 2026 and defers the applicable federal fuel tax.

The goal is to provide some relief from high diesel costs for truckers and farmers.

As always, check your state's requirements before using dyed diesel on the road.

A recent multi-state operation involving FMCSA, DHS and state agencies conducted 552 inspections across South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia.

The effort resulted in 78 drivers and 25 vehicles being placed out of service for safety violations, including issues involving driver qualifications, fatigue, ELDs, cargo and English-language proficiency.

The goal is simple: keep unsafe drivers and equipment off the road and make the highways safer for everyone.

More truck parking is coming to Florida.

Florida is putting nearly $54 million toward expanding and improving truck parking along the 320-mile Florida Turnpike.

About 150 parking spaces will be added or improved at the Turkey Lake and Ocoee service plazas.
