JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: FIELD TRAIL ASSISTANT / EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
REPORTS TO: PRESIDENT, PREMIER CITRUS APZ, LLC, GROVE MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY
Field Trial Assistant: This position will coordinate between the technology development group and the production teams at Premier Citrus in efforts to, support and assist in the conduct of field trials specifically directed at developing solutions to HLB.
Equipment Operator: Under general supervision of a crew leader performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of light, medium, and some heavy equipment.
PRINCIPAL, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Trail Assistant
Collaborate with entities involved in trials to conduct site evaluations, plot mapping, establishment of treatment and data collection timelines, and other relevant site, horticultural and production details. Assist in documentation of major trail activities in concern with those conducting the trail and report information to the team.
Provide assistance in maintenance, operation and modification of equipment used in field trials.
Equipment Operator
Operates tractors, sprayers, and other similar machinery. Performs required manual labor and maintenance projects. Checks and services assigned equipment. Mixes materials used for operation of grove care services. Performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs, reports complex mechanical problems for shop repairs.
Have considerable knowledge of safety procedures and hazards related to usage, maintenance, and equipment operation.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Supervision: Expected to work with scientist leading the design of field trials and data collection and with other team members engaged in the field trails or in citrus production and pest/disease management.
• Perform other duties as requested and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of:
Experienced with citrus production and familiarization with the research process. Operation of assigned equipment, methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to perform physical work including climbing, lifting, twisting, bending, pushing, reaching, reaching above head, grasping, stooping, carrying up to 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITION:
Work in outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
