SWART Chief Operations Manager, Carlos Mallen, and Safety & TrainingTechnician, Frank Villalobos, attended the National ADA Compliance training in Nevada. The training was provided by the renown ADA Guru, Jesse Segovia.

The duo not only received a refresher on ADA laws pertaining to public transit, but also networked with other transit agencies from across the U.S.

SWART is excited to announce the promotion of **Elizabeth “Liz” Mireles** to **Procurement Manager**, making her the newest member of SWART’s Administrative Team!

Liz has proudly served SWART for **12 years**, building a career that reflects dedication, hard work, and continued professional growth. She began her journey with SWART as a **Dispatcher**, later advanced to **Reports Technician**, and has now earned the opportunity to take on this important administrative leadership role as **Procurement Manager**.

Throughout her years with SWART, Liz has demonstrated a willingness to learn, take on new responsibilities, and contribute wherever she is needed. Her progression within the organization is a great example of what can be achieved through commitment, perseverance, and a desire to grow.

At SWART, we believe in **developing our employees and creating opportunities for advancement from within our organization**. We are especially proud when longtime members of our SWART family are able to take the experience and knowledge they have gained over the years and use it to step into new leadership roles.

In observance of **Labor Day**, all SWART offices will be **CLOSED on Monday, September 7, 2026**.

🚌 **Limited transit service will be available for dialysis and essential medical needs only.**

Please note:
• **No Arriba SWART services**
• **No Eagle Pass Fixed Route services**
• **All SWART offices will be closed**

Regular transit services and routes will **resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026**.

🚌 What’s New at SWART? Exciting Changes Are Underway!

SWART has officially begun its transition into **urban transit operations in Eagle Pass!** While SWART has continued providing Eagle Pass transit services throughout the past 2½ years without federal urban operating support, this milestone begins an exciting new chapter—not only for Eagle Pass, but for the entire SWART region.

As we move forward, SWART continues to evaluate and enhance our local transportation services, including **Demand Response, Arriba SWART On-Demand Micro-Transit, and Eagle Pass Fixed Routes.**

Here are some of the improvements currently being developed:

* 🚌 **Arriba SWART Expansion:** Ambulatory riders will soon transition to our Arriba SWART on-demand micro-transit service, with fares reduced to just **$2 per ride within a zone**.
* 📍 **New Micro-Transit Zones:** SWART is developing additional service zones throughout **Eagle Pass, Uvalde, Crystal City, and Carrizo Springs**. Riders will be able to travel within a zone for $2, with different fares applying when traveling between zones.
* ♿ **Specialized Paratransit:** Demand Response will transition toward specialized paratransit service for elderly riders and individuals with disabilities. These riders will also have the option of using Arriba SWART on-demand service if they choose.
* 📱 **More Control Through MyRideGo:** Riders will soon be able to schedule eligible trips directly through the MyRideGo app and reload their SWART fare cards right from their phones.
* ☎️ **Personal Assistance Will Remain Available:** Elderly riders and riders with disabilities who prefer personal assistance will continue to have the option of calling the SWART office to schedule their transportation.
* 🚏 **Continued Route Evaluation:** SWART will continue analyzing our local services and Eagle Pass fixed routes to identify opportunities for improvements based on ridership, community needs, available resources, and funding.

These changes are designed to make public transportation **easier to use, more flexible, more affordable, and more accessible** while allowing SWART to better meet the changing transportation needs of the communities we serve.

And this is only the beginning! **Stay tuned as we roll out additional information about new zones, fares, scheduling options, and service enhancements throughout the SWART region.**
