DC Flight Simulation IFR Training Scholarship
DC Flight Simulation is awarding one instrument student a 25-hour / 30-day Redbird FMX simulator package — a $490 retail value.
The Application
Create a 30–60 second video making your case for why you should receive the scholarship.
Do your homework. Research the applicable FAR/AIM regulations and FAA guidance regarding the use of approved simulation during instrument training, and tell us:
What the regulations allow.
How those provisions apply to your instrument training.
How you would incorporate 25 hours in the Redbird FMX into your training plan.
Why access to this resource would make a meaningful difference in reaching your instrument-rating goals.
Where you take it from there is up to you.
We aren't looking for a professionally produced video or the applicant with the most followers. We're looking for a serious student who understands the opportunity, has done the research, and can make a strong case for how they would use it.
Post your 30–60 second video, tag DC Flight Simulation, and make sure the post is public/shareable so we can feature submissions on our social feeds.
Scholarship Recipient Announced October 1
DC Flight Simulation will review the submissions and select the recipient. Likes, views, and follower counts will not determine the winner.

Not every student pilot earns a certificate.
The difference often isn't talent—it's consistency.
The students who finish tend to stay engaged, practice between lessons, and build confidence before every flight.
A simulator isn't a replacement for the airplane. It's another tool that allows students to rehearse procedures, make mistakes without consequences, and show up better prepared when the engine starts.
If you're working toward your Private Pilot Certificate, adding simulator sessions to your training can help you maintain momentum while getting more value from every hour in the aircraft.
At DC Flight Simulation, we're here to help students finish what they started.

A missed approach isn't a failure.
It's a reminder that every flight is an opportunity to learn.
The question is: where do you want to learn it?
In an aircraft that's burning fuel by the minute?
Or in a full-motion simulator where you can reset, try again, and refine every decision?
Every great pilot has gone missed.
The best ones prepare for it before they're ever in the clouds.
Practice with purpose. Fly with confidence.

Flying isn't just about time in the air.
It's about the quiet moments beforehand—the planning, the learning, and the discipline that build confidence before every takeoff.
That's what we're here for.
Every great flight begins before the engine starts.

What if you could become a better instrument pilot before spending thousands of dollars in the airplane?
That's the idea behind our new IFR Discovery Pass.
For years, airline training has relied on simulators because they're one of the most effective environments for building procedures, repetition, decision-making, and confidence. We believe general aviation pilots deserve access to that same training philosophy.
This isn't about replacing the airplane.
It's about using the right tool at the right time.
This August, we're making it easy to experience the difference.
✈️ IFR Discovery Pass• 10 hours of Redbird FMX simulator time• 30-day access• FAA-approved AATD• Train solo or bring your CFII• $199 introductory price
If you decide to continue with our 25-hour IFR Accelerator package, we'll apply your entire $199 toward the upgrade.
Whether you're just starting your instrument rating, working toward proficiency, or simply curious about what professional simulator training feels like, we'd love to show you a different way to train.
