Cable Air Show

Cable Air Show We thank those who partner with us and make this annual Air Show a success. Please join us the second weekend in January for this spectacular family event.

Thank you for supporting the annual Cable Air Show at Cable Airport located in Upland, California. Formally known many years ago as the Pomona Valley Air Faire, this is the longest running air show in Southern California. The many volunteers of Chapter 448 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), San Gabriel Valley 99’s, Cable Airport Foundation and Cable Airport coordinate this annual even

t. Proceeds from the Air Show go to these non-profit organizations which help young adults in our community advance their interests in general aviation. The Cable Airport Foundation and Chapter 448 of the EAA have established scholarship funds through the Aviation Departments at Mt. San Antonio College, Chaffey College and Orange Coast College to assist young adults in funding their future as an aviation mechanic or as an Air Traffic Controller. The Rob Cable Memorial Fund, a subsidiary of the Cable Airport Foundation, assists individuals starting their private pilot training or wanting to go on to advanced training for potential commercial aviation employment. The San Gabriel Valley 99’s, a group of women pilots, provide aviation training scholarships as well. Proceeds from this event are also donated to the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and used to support educational aviation exhibitions on display at the Upland Public Library and at the Cooper Museum located here in Upland. To promote community awareness, we invite organizations from throughout our community to display their programs during our event. Typical displays include the Upland Police Department’s Explorer Post, the Chaffey College Aeronautics Department, Armed Forces Displays, San Bernardino Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, Upland VFW Post, American Red Cross, and the Civil Air Patrol. And we are expecting more! Each year we have a “Media Day”, which is the Friday preceding the Air Show. We invite people from the local newspapers, airplane magazines, and television stations to meet with the sponsors and committee members. We provide a variety of aircraft for both static display and aerial demonstrations. Each year we also have a “Special Program for Special People” where we invite individuals and groups who are physically and/or mentally challenged, along with senior citizens, who otherwise might not be able to attend the Saturday or Sunday activities. This event is provided complements of the Air Show Committee. The Cable Air Show is conducted as an activity of the Cable Airport Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization. Accordingly, donations to the Cable Air Show qualify as charitable contributions under Internal Revenue Code section 170. We thank you for your support and making this Air Show a success. Robert (“Bob”) A. Cable,

There will be no Air Show for 2018.

The airport will be under construction which will tear up a majority of the area we use for the Air Show. We know a lot of people look forward to this every year and we hope to see you at future shows!

We are scheduled to have the Air Show again in 2019!!

Have a great New Year!

If you would like to review the County's Fee Schedule please visit the Airport's website. Upon reviewing and comparing the proposed schedule with the current City inspection fee schedule you can see where fees will not just increase moderately but drastically by thousands of dollars. Cable Airport is NOT taking a stance of protesting fees in general but a position that there should be a basis for the fees charged. The proposed changes should be approved by vote of the people and businesses who are affected by such increases. Again the proposed increases greatly affect our ability to do community events here at the Airport such as the Air Show and we ask that you take the time to be informed and see how this will impact local business. Thank you.

Since the potential switch in services greatly affects events held here at Cable, the Airport is taking a position against the City of Upland regarding switching fire services over to the County of San Bernardino. To help you as Upland business owner and/or resident better understand how these changes will affect you we have attached a copy of the current Fire fee schedules from the City of Upland and also the San Bernardino County, which will apply and go into effect if the switch in service takes place. It is in your best interest to review these documents, especially if you are doing business in the City of Upland because some of your rates could increase as much as 500% if not more!!
We strongly encourage you to fill out and return the attached “Written Protest Form” that must be filled out and returned right away. If you cannot personally deliver or do not want to mail it, the Airport Office will be collecting the forms to be hand delivered directly to the LAFCO office before the deadline date.
Publication of Protest Hearing date is from 05/12/2017 through 06/14/2017 and forms must be filled out and dated between these two dates in order to qualify.
We hope that this information will help you make an informed decision as whether to support or oppose to the direction the City is heading on this very important issue.
