We are excited to let you all know about our name change to Seahorse Sails, along with the launch of our new website: seahorsesails.org. Seahorse Sails is your full-service partner for all sail-related needs, with a core focus on custom sail making. We design and build sails to withstand the varied and rigorous conditions of San Francisco Bay, while delivering durability, efficiency, and performance. Personal service with deep knowledge.

In 2004, Stephen Slade McCarthy bought Hogin Sails of Alameda, a sailmaking company started in 1978 by Bob Hogin. After 22 years running as Hogin Sails, Steve honored his grandfather, Slade Cutter, a WW2 captain of the USS Seahorse (SS304), by renaming his company Seahorse Sails.

Steve has been a sailmaker for 32 years, with the first 10 years alternately with Sobstad, Santa Cruz, and North Sails before buying Hogin Sails.

The combination of Steve’s substantial sailmaking resume and extensive sailing experience will allow Seahorse Sails to continue to provide quality service and sails to Bay Area sailors.

Last year's Spring fling was such a success that this year it has expanded to cover two days of boating information and advice, special deals and fun.
