Here’s mine …

So we were on a vacation with my folks a gazillion years ago.

I was playing with the kiddos in the living room room while my mom was in the bathroom getting ready for bed. She was taking her sweet time.

Eventually she came out super tickled about something.

Apparently in the process of getting ready she went blind in one eye. She was absolutely convinced she was having a stroke.

She was less concerned about the stroke and going blind and more concerned about ruining our trip. So she just sat on the edge of the tub and tried to breathe through it. Which is clearly what you do when you’re having a stroke and going blind.

Anywho … as she was about to come out and break the news to us … she realized one of her lenses had popped out of her glasses.

So while she did not have a stroke (that would’ve definitely ruined our trip) … we collectively spent the rest of the trip picking up her lens 👓that randomly kept popping out at the most in opportune times lol.

Now … you’re turn. Amuse me!

Are some places ‘picture perfect’?YES! Are some places not as perfect as they are in the picture? YES! Are they still worth experiencing in person? ABSOLUTELY! (Well … most of them are.)

Just be sure to manage your expectations in advance and don’t believe everything you see on social media.

Believe it or not… summer is one of the best times to start booking!

Here’s a simple guide:

🏔️ Domestic snow trips: Aim to book about 3–6 months ahead.

✈️ International snow trips: Aim to book about 6–9 months ahead (or even earlier for Christmas and New Year’s).

Planning ahead usually means better prices, more flight options, and a much better selection of hotels and resorts.

Most cruisers don’t think about it until it’s too late.

DON’T BE ‘most cruisers’.

If you have a true medical emergency, the decision to evacuate is based on your condition … not whether you have insurance.

So what’s the real risk?

The hospital bills and the cost of getting home afterward if you’re too sick to fly commercially.

That’s why travel insurance isn’t just about canceled trips. It can be the difference between getting home or being stuck in a Mexico hospital … or farther.

Just know … if you have health insurance you may or may not be covered. Some insurances won’t cover you outside the states. Taking a trip and don’t want the travel protection? At the very least … check and see if your existing policy will cover you if something goes sideways.

No coverage can lead to a whole heap of issues and expenses.

Had a drinky-poo or 2+ (or something equally as illegal) before or while driving? You’re likely not taking an Alaskan cruise any time soon if you have a record (DUI/DWI).

It’s less about the cruise itself and MORE about the fact Canada takes this type of behavior VERY SERIOUSLY. (The USA should take note and act accordingly IMO.)

Canada has much stricter entry rules than many people realize. Even an old DUI or DWI can make you inadmissible unless you’ve been approved through Canada’s rehabilitation process.

Moral of the story:
The moose might forgive you.
The glaciers might forgive you.
Canada 🇨🇦 … not so much.

If you’ve ever had a DUI or DWI, tell me before we book. It’s much easier to check ahead than to find out on embarkation day.
