Brake Safety Week is scheduled for August 25-31, 2024. During Brake Safety Week, CMV inspectors conduct brake system inspections (primarily Level IV) on large trucks & buses to identify brake-system violations. IMPORTANT: Inspectors will be paying close attention to brake lining/pad violations.

With International Roadcheck coming up quickly now's a good time for a refresher on the components of a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) that an inspector will check when conducting a Level I Inspection.

International Roadcheck - May 14-16. At this year's Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance - certified inspectors will not only be focusing on the condition of tractor protection system, they'll be looking for drivers with bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. Inspectors will be screening drivers for signs of drug or alcohol impairment, and making data checks to see if drivers are listed as being in 'prohibited driving status" on the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
