Dr. Jeff Pettis and Carlos Perea of Terra Vera are the Inventors of the ApiVera Fogger, a system that uses biomimicry and ultrasonic technology, in a way that is capable of generating and delivering vital nutrients and miticides.
They have found that they can combine naturally occurring amino acids and then electrically charge them with a piece of equipment to create treatments that are effective at controlling microbial pathogens, and also leave behind beneficial amino acids that increase bee health.
The company has announced that their product, ApiVera can generate the needed chemistry on site, and on demand, and then convert the liquid to fog to quickly saturate the hive with a miticide varroa treatment.
Their method could be appealing to commercial beekeepers because it reduces the amount of time needed to treat multiple hives for varroa destructor.
Justin Sanchez, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and co-founder of Terra Vera, has a background in materials science and engineering, Justin holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree from MIT and an MBA in manufacturing leadership. His career started at Intel as a Factory Solutions Manager, then he contributed to advanced solar tech at Advent Solar. At Terra Vera, Justin's mission is to make agriculture more sustainable by making Terra Vera a leader in eco-conscious farming.
Carlos Perea is an experienced impact entrepreneur focused on levering business to help solve important social and environmental issues. He co-founded Terra Vera with the goal of replacing the toxic chemistries commonly used in agriculture that are damaging the environment and linked to public health issues including cancer and early onset of Alzheimer’s.
