Landstar just cut 35,000+ carriers from its network. Here's why that's not a red flag — it's a preview of where freight brokerage is headed.

From 100,000+ approved carriers in 2022 down to ~64,600 by Q2 2026. That's a 35% reduction, and it wasn't a one-time purge — it's a multiyear shift toward safety, identity verification, and fraud prevention.

Here's the thing: this isn't about 35,000 "bad" carriers. It's about a fundamental rethink of what makes a brokerage strong.

For years, the pitch was "we have access to 100,000 carriers." Bigger database = bigger advantage.

Not anymore.

A carrier with active authority and insurance can still be a risk — a compromised email, a spoofed dispatch contact, a hijacked identity. Authority and insurance are the floor, not the whole picture.

Add in the Supreme Court's Montgomery decision, which opened the door to state negligent-selection claims against brokers, and "we approved this carrier once" is no longer good enough. Brokers need to show how and when they verified a carrier — and that verification has to continue after onboarding, not stop at it.

The new question isn't "how many carriers do you have access to?"

It's: "How many were verified recently? How many can you actually defend?"

A network of 20,000 continuously verified carriers beats a database of 100,000 stale records.

A $400,000 lobster shipment reportedly disappeared after criminals impersonated a legitimate carrier.

Yes, it sounds like the plot of a freight comedy.

But for the broker, shipper, and customer, the loss was very real.
- The pickup appeared normal.
- The truck arrived.
- The paperwork looked legitimate.
- The carrier information seemed to match.

Then the shipment left the warehouse—and never reached its intended destination.

This incident highlights how modern cargo theft increasingly begins behind a screen. Criminals can use spoofed emails, compromised carrier identities, altered documents, burner phone numbers, and convincing truck markings to make a fraudulent pickup look legitimate.

That means surface-level verification is no longer enough.
- A familiar carrier name is not verification.
- An active MC number is not verification.
- A professional-looking email is not verification.
- A truck waiting at the dock is not verification.

Freight brokers need to verify independently through trusted contact channels, confirm the driver and pickup chain, review insurance coverage, investigate inconsistencies, and protect sensitive load information before releasing freight.

The headline may sound funny.

The operational lesson is serious:

Trust is not assumed in freight brokerage. It is verified.

At AMB Logistic, we believe disciplined carrier verification, clear communication, shipment visibility, and proactive risk control are essential to moving freight safely and responsibly.

Trucking rates are rising again — and shippers are looking at every option on the table.

One of the biggest shifts gaining attention is the move back toward intermodal: using rail for the long haul and trucks for final delivery.

For shippers, the reason is clear. When truckload costs climb, intermodal can become a serious cost-control option. But the decision is not only about price.

Speed matters.
Visibility matters.
Theft risk matters.
Rail delays matter.
Final-mile ex*****on matters.

That is why this is not just a rail story. It is a freight strategy story.

For freight brokers, the role is expanding. Customers need more than a truck quote. They need guidance on when truckload makes sense, when intermodal may reduce cost, and how to manage the tradeoffs without losing control of service.

At AMB Logistic, we help shippers move with clarity, control, and confidence — whether the solution is truckload, LTL, or a smarter freight strategy built around changing market conditions.

Freight policy is not just a Washington conversation. It directly shapes how freight moves, how infrastructure is built, how safety standards evolve, and how the logistics industry prepares for the future.

The BUILD America 250 Act brings major freight implications into focus — from surface transportation investment to autonomous commercial vehicle deployment, safety standards, infrastructure modernization, and stronger supply chain resilience.

For brokers, carriers, and shippers, this is worth watching closely.

Clearer regulation, stronger freight corridors, and smarter infrastructure planning can change how capacity is managed, how operations are planned, and how the next generation of logistics networks takes shape.

At AMB Logistic, we believe the future of freight will be built on clarity, control, and confidence — supported by better infrastructure, smarter policy, and disciplined ex*****on.

Strong policy. Strong infrastructure. Stronger supply chains.

One legal ruling just changed the freight brokerage conversation.

This video breaks down why the recent Supreme Court decision involving C.H. Robinson matters far beyond one case — and why carrier selection, documentation, and process discipline now carry even more weight across the brokerage industry.

This is not about panic. It is about understanding what changed, what the market is already reacting to, and what stronger brokers will do next.

At AMB Logistic, we believe freight brokerage is no longer just about covering freight. It is about building a process that can stand up under pressure.

If your team wants a brokerage partner that values discipline, defensibility, and ex*****on as much as price, AMB Logistic is ready to help.

Lean inventory can look efficient right up until the transportation layer underneath it starts tightening.

That is the real point of this video.

When costs rise, capacity contracts, and timing windows get smaller, the risk is no longer just about freight spend. It becomes a service, replenishment, and ex*****on issue across the entire supply chain.

For shippers, one delay can expose how fragile a lean model really is.
For brokers, timing, communication, and routing discipline become even more critical.
For carriers, dependable capacity becomes more valuable in a market with less room for error.

In 2026, the advantage will not belong only to the leanest operators. It will belong to the most resilient ones.

If your team is navigating rising transportation pressure and tighter replenishment conditions, AMB Logistic is ready to help.

The pressure is back in the logistics network, and it is not staying at the ports.

What starts as rising pressure around port and rail movement quickly moves inland into drayage, truck availability, timing risk, and higher cost exposure for shippers. That is the real story. In this market, the biggest risk is assuming the network still has the same flexibility it had before.

When room for error gets smaller, visibility matters more. Communication matters more. Routing matters more. Response time matters more.

At AMB Logistic, we believe strong logistics is not just about moving freight when conditions are easy. It is about staying clear, responsive, and in control when the system gets tighter.

If your team is navigating rising pressure across port, rail, and inland freight, AMB Logistic is ready to help you stay ahead of it.
