Taking my family camping is one of my favorite things to do. We flew out to the mountains to celebrate Gideon’s 18th birthday and had a great time! We had some rain, wind and temps in the low 30s but there is something about getting out to the mountains that makes my family feel more alive. The conversations are fresh and fun, the food tastes better, you notice so many things that often go unnoticed. Our little kids found an American Pipit nest full of eggs on the first day and by the last day they got to see the eggs hatch.
The new Maule did amazing. At gross weight we landed in a very small strip at 4600 feet. I shuttled back out in two trips as we had a light tail wind on take off. I would have likely made 4 trips if I had been in our Supercub we owned in the past.
Did I mention I like this plane?😎
