Sean has far exceeded our expectations, he continues to learn more and more each day. Please congratulate Sean on this great achievement at such a young age.

It’s been a while since Talbot County has seen a Blizzard Warning, so here’s a refresher on what it means and how winter alerts work.

A Blizzard Warning is issued when sustained winds or frequent gusts of 35 mph or higher combine with heavy falling or blowing snow, reducing visibility to less than one-quarter mile for at least three hours. These conditions can make travel dangerous and, at times, nearly impossible.

Here’s how winter alerts typically progress:

⚠️ A Winter Storm Watch is usually issued at least 24 hours in advance. It means the risk of hazardous winter weather has increased (at least a 50% chance), but the exact timing, location, or severity is still uncertain. It provides time to prepare.

⚠️ As the storm becomes imminent, a Watch is typically upgraded to a Warning or an Advisory (indicating an 80% or greater probability of occurrence).

⚠️ A Warning means conditions pose a threat to life or property and travel will become difficult to impossible.

⚠️ An Advisory means conditions may cause significant inconvenience and, if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that threaten life or property.

Now is the time to prepare. Avoid unnecessary travel, charge devices, and stay tuned for official updates.
