On a very cold Saturday, representatives from Monroeton, Franklindale, Herrick Township, New Albany, and Windham Fire Departments, as well as Bradford County EMA and HOPS attended a very well done training by Guthrie Air on landing zone site preparation and selection. Thank you to all who came out to brave the cold to learn how to make our communities safer and more responsive. The efforts of the folks on the ground and in the aircraft hold a special place here at the airport as someone very dear to me was once saved by their efforts. Great work, all!

We had a fantastic weekend hosting the Camptown Boy Scouts troop here at Bradford County Airport! We spent all day talking about what goes into managing an airport, different types of airplanes and how they are constructed and fly, basic aerodynamics, airport fueling systems, airport lighting systems, how to file flight plans. We even got to see airplanes and helicopters taking off and landing, and they were so kind as to talk to us on the radio while doing so! And of course, free airplane rides for all the Scouts! All in all, a great weekend to learn a little about aviation!

The PA Aviation Economic Impact Study was published back in March, and I forgot to post it for all of our airport supporters! This was a study done last year to assess the impact that aviation has on our state as a whole, as well as each individual public access airport within the State. We worked hard to accurately represent the amount of economic impact that our airport has on our community. This includes businesses that use our airport to augment or make possible their businesses, leading to more employees, therefore more impact; individuals that fly into Towanda and then visit restaurants, hotels, shopping, outdoor activities, etc. Our fuel sales have been way up in the last couple of years, and our hangars are full! We have quite an active airport down here and our patrons are very happy to visit our great county and our corner of our beautiful State! With the work that we did to ascertain the impact of our airport on the community the Study estimated a figure of $5.1 million dollars that essentially flows through the airport into our county! This is money that does not go to governmental budgets or funds, but into individual businesses and our local economy. We work hard down here to represent our community well and point people to our amazing businesses to visit! We have some great restaurants, places to stay, outdoor activities, vendor malls for shopping, and very talented artisans including painters, woodworkers, etc. that we encourage visitors to check out! And if you are visiting, please ask us about our courtesy car services here at the airport to help you get into town! We're still getting the last minute details together for the Touch-a-Truck next Saturday! Things are coming together nicely and it looks like we'll have a great turnout! Fire, police, tractors, helicopters, airplanes, and (weather permitting) a P51 again! Also, (weather/schedule permitting) we will have someone here offering airplane rides! Cost and details for the airplane rides will be coming shortly. Hope to see as many of you there as possible!
