IMPORTANT NOTICE: 🚧We understand that there are cones and barricades throughout the city, which can be frustrating. With so many summer construction projects, including the California Bridge and Polk/Quincy Viaduct improvements, as well as unexpected water main breaks and street closures, Topeka Metro bus operators may be delayed due to traffic or detours.

If you need to get to work, a medical appointment or anywhere that you need to be ON TIME, you may have to take an EARLIER RIDE so that you are not late.

We encourage passengers to CHECK FOR DETOURS on our website at www.topekametro.org/routes-and-detours before traveling and arrive at the bus stop a few minutes early. ⏰ You can also use My Transit Ride at https://topekametro.mytransitride.com on your mobile phone or desktop to see when your bus is arriving. If you are at a bus stop, you can call or text (785) 333-1113.

Tomorrow at 11 a.m., the Juneteenth Parade will be downtown. There are five routes that will be affected, they are: #5 Indiana, #7 Washburn, #10 W. 10th, #17 W. 17th and #21 W. 21st. Go to https://www.topekametro.org/routes-and-detours for more information. The detours should be done by 1 p.m.

Topeka Metro announces Tamika Terry has been appointed to the Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority Board of Directors. This is her first term, and it began June 9, 2026. Ms. Terry is a dedicated servant, an accomplished community advocate and a devoted, proud mother of four. We welcome Ms. Terry to Topeka Metro!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: On Monday, June 8th, the Kansas Dept. of Transportation has scheduled the full closure of I-70 in downtown Topeka as part of the Polk-Quincy Viaduct project. On Monday, June 8th, ALL LANES of I-70 between Topeka Blvd. & 8th Avenue are scheduled to CLOSE until December 2026. Construction will also continue on the new I-70 lanes & local street work.

PLEASE BE PATIENT as this will affect transportation for Topeka Metro. Make sure to get to your bus stop early and if you feel there may be delays, consider trying to arrive earlier to your destination. We do not know what to expect with traffic. Thank you for your consideration.

🚧Starting on Monday, June 8th, there will be two detours for the #5 Indiana and #7 Washburn routes. The eastbound & center lanes of SW 37th Street between SW Park Court and SW Scapa Place will be closed for repairs. It's expected to last for four days. June is National Safety Month! We have regular quarterly training during the year. Some of the topics have included security training, de-escalation, human trafficking awareness, tornado procedures, AED procedures, active assailant and more. Safety is priority at Topeka Metro!
