Big Grammaw enjoyed an early morning with Big Grampaw doing some lowboy hauling from deep in the National Forest. It was definitely worth getting up at 4:00 AM to bounce along on bad roads with him! 😍🥰

By the end of the day, Big Grampaw will have had his day completely packed with over 11 hours of lowboy work and 150 miles hauling a load of giant logs to a sawmill, and switching trailers in between. (Next time he'll remember to take a picture of the log load for me, he says, but today he was running too hard and too fast to stop and take a photo just because Big Grammaw wants one!)

Big Grampaw wears a lot of hats (Husband, Dad, Grampaw-times-4-going-on-6, Logger, Trucker, Demolition Man, Cowboy, Friend and Mentor, to mention just a few) but most of all he's Big Grammaw's Favorite Person in the Whole World.❤️

GRAMMAW'S FIRST TRUCKING ADVENTURE

If Someone Else would take Minnie, the black dually pickup with the 32' gooseneck trailer, she suggested helpfully, Big Grampaw wouldn't have to take as many trips with Max, the log truck, to make his two firewood deliveries on Friday.

"Smart idea!" said Grampaw. "Who shall we ask?"

"I wish I could help you", said Grammaw, a little wistfully, as she shuffled through the paperwork on the kitchen table. "But I'm terrified of that Minnie-truck and the trailer. They seem sketchy by themselves, and then if you add ME to the mix.....I just don't think it will work."

Grampaw's eyes lit up. "Oh, I'm SURE you can do it, and it really would save me a LOT of time! I'll go with you on a little spin tonight to get you more comfortable with pulling a gooseneck."

"Welllllll. It DOES make more sense than paying Someone Else, and I'm tired of doing bookwork anyway," Grammaw reasoned foolishly.

So, early, early Friday morning, they headed out, Grampaw in the lead with Max, and Grammaw following a safe distance behind with Minnie.

We had a hard time deciding on a name for the trucking division of our logging business, Weaver Forest Products.

We debated awhile.
Should we go with something sensible like WFP Transit?
Or something depressing like Uppa Creek Trucking Company?
Or something long and sleek like Range Line Roadrunners?

We put it out on our family chat group so our adult kids could weigh in. They usually do well with critiquing our options and nixing our bad ideas, if nothing else.

Soon, a text came in from our son, Kent, in faraway Oregon. His son, Kyler, had an idea: "Big Grampaw Trucking"!

It only makes sense, doesn't it?
Mark has always been "Big Grandpa", because Kyler's other Grandpa is smaller and has always been "Little Grandpa".

We immediately fell in love with Kyler's great suggestion, and decided that using it as our business name would be memorable, and fun, and friendly, and family-ish, and a little bit hill-billy...just like we are. 😂🤩

(The misspelling is deliberate on our part to reflect how a five year old MIGHT spell "Grandpa" if his Dad hadn't written the text for him!)

Here are just a few snapshots of Kyler, doing his most important job...being his Grampaw and Grammaw's favorite oldest grandson. 🥰
