Our History
In 1982 John Fischer (that’s him second from the left!) moved his family from the small town of Dixon, Illinois to Houston, Texas in search of better opportunities. The recession hit shortly there after but John, being John, dug his heels in to make it work. After a failed attempt to sell furniture, he decided to put his delivery truck to work and place an ad in the paper for moving services. At the time he was just looking to pay the rent, but little did he know, that at the age of 50, he was starting the 3 Men Movers we know and love today. John was a blue collar worker all his life and knew what it was like to be beaten down or passed up just because you weren’t wearing a suit. That’s why every morning he would meet with his movers before their first move of the day and remind them them that they were businessmen.
Even though he became successful and wealthy, he never forgot his struggles and was always willing to help others. He was the coach in everyone’s corner and his almost preacher like persona made a big imprint on those around him, including his daughter Jacky. In 2002 he suffered a massive stroke and was unable to handle the day to day management of the company. He called his daughter to help out. Being raised in the family business, Jacky was the first sales person who scribbled down all of the voicemails after middle school. When she came back to work for her for her Dad, they were too much alike and butted heads. This prompted her to step down. The movers couldn’t let that happen, so they signed a petition to bring her back. They knew that Jacky had their best interest at heart, and so she came back on board and purchased 3 Men Movers in 2004.
