Sometimes it's the small things that make a big difference.

This Mercury 600 recently came in for skeg repair.

A damaged skeg can impact handling, tracking, and overall performance.

Addressing issues early helps prevent additional wear and keeps everything operating the way it should.

Small repairs today often prevent larger repairs tomorrow.

Give up?

During a recent vessel inspection, we discovered severe corrosion hidden within the exhaust system.

From the outside, everything appeared normal. But a closer inspection revealed significant deterioration that could have led to much larger (and much more expensive) problems if left unchecked.

This is exactly why routine inspections matter.

Many of the issues we find aren't obvious until something failsβ€”and by then, the repair is usually far more costly than the inspection that could have caught it.

The goal isn't just fixing problems.

It's finding them before they become emergencies.

Hurricane season officially starts today.

The best time to make a hurricane plan was months ago. The second-best time? TODAY!

Every year we get boat owners scrambling for haul-out space, transportation, storage, and last-minute arrangements once a storm enters the forecast.

By then, options are limited, and stress levels go through the roof.

Having a plan in place now means you will have one less thing to worry about when a storm approaches.

Whether you need haul-out coordination, transport, storage, or a complete hurricane preparedness plan, Gulf Marine Services is here to help.

We see things on boats every day that owners had no idea about. πŸ‘‰Follow us to see them too!

Transiting the Amelia River at low tide with a 5'6" draft is not for the faint of heart, especially when every available chart is wrong. Captain Alex Widmann felt his way through on local knowledge and experience.

This is a real issue on Florida's coastal waterways. Shifting sandbars and tidal variation mean published charts frequently don't match actual conditions β€” especially in areas like this. It doesn't matter how new your chartplotter is or how recently the charts were updated.

Local knowledge is a must-have. Gulf Marine Services has it.

If you have never taken a boat to cross to the Bahamas, you should know - it's not a weekend boat ride. When something fails 50 miles out there's no marina to call. You work with what's on board.

When several of our clients planned the Bahamas crossing this month, we started prepping.

Before any of them left the dock, we'd already been through every vessel β€” final system checks, fully stocked spare parts kits, safety equipment verified, and everything confirmed ready for an offshore passage.

How you prepare for a trip like that matters more than anything else.

If you're planning a or trip this season, let's get your boat squared away before you get underway.

Here's the most recent one:

When this 66' Azimut came in with a major exhaust system failure, severe driveline misalignment, and broken engine mounts, it required a lot more than a patch job.

Here's what it took:

β†’ Complete exhaust system redesign and rebuild, eliminating the original failure points
β†’ Full driveline rebuild: propellers and shafts removed and reconditioned, new PSS shaft seals installed
β†’ New engine mount studs throughout
β†’ Complete laser alignment of the propulsion system
β†’ Third station control installed on the aft lower deck
β†’ New rub rail added around the swim platform

Laser alignment isn't something every shop does, or does correctly. When a vessel this size has driveline misalignment, the vibration and wear it creates affects everything downstream. Getting it right requires the right equipment and someone who's actually done it before

This one left better than it came in.

If your boat has vibration issues, exhaust concerns, or hasn't had a driveline inspection β€” call us before summer gets going.

Here's a great example:

If you own an , keep reading.

We've repaired this issue on multiple β€” a design flaw built in at the factory. The original construction features a stainless-steel exhaust connection fiberglassed directly into the underwater exhaust chamber. Over time, that bond fails. When it does, water gets into the engine room.

β†’ That's not a slow problem.

Here's what it took to fix it, right:
β€” Removed the failed stainless connection entirely
β€” Cut out the damaged section
β€” Fiberglassed in a new FRP exhaust tube with a crush-ring

That permanently eliminates the failure point between the stainless steel and fiberglass components. Not a patch β€” a proper fix.

If you own an Azimut and haven't had this inspected, give us a call for your own peace of mind.
