Compass Rose Curated Travels

Compass Rose Curated Travels Where every journey finds its true north. I wasn’t exactly in it for the majestic views though. Can I get a souvenir? Is fried shrimp on the menu? Like, planes.

Hi, I’m Jessica Gorski — founder, travel consultant, and your new favorite travel sidekick at Compass Rose Curated Travels. My love for travel started early — courtesy of my grandma and aunt & uncle, who thought nothing of tossing my sister and me in the backseat and hitting the road to Colorado, Wyoming, and occasionally the Smoky Mountains. At age 10, my main travel priorities were: Does the hot

el have a pool? (because priorities). We also made an annual pilgrimage with my parents to Erie, Pennsylvania to visit family — a journey powered by snacks, sibling squabbles, and my ability to stare out the window dramatically for hours like I was in a music video (I mean, it was the 90's). Somewhere in all that, the travel bug bit me. Or maybe I just got very good at surviving long car rides. Fast forward to adulthood, and now my job involves real travel. In the sky. Full disclosure: I used to be absolutely terrified of flying. I mean, “What was that noise?!” followed by gripping the armrest like it owed me money. But I made it through those early flights — possibly aided by a strong cocktail and a weak sense of self-preservation — and now I actually love flying. Okay, love is a strong word. Let’s say: I fly willingly, armed with noise-cancelling headphones, snacks, and a deep belief that turbulence is the same as driving on a gravel road. Before launching my travel planning business, I worked as a financial controller — which means I’ve got a serious handle on details, efficiency, and budgets (yes, even while booking dreamy vacations). Now I combine my analytical side with my love of adventure to help others plan trips that are both unforgettable and financially smart. Whether you're dreaming of a once-in-a-lifetime escape, a family vacation that doesn’t end in chaos, or a luxurious getaway that respects your budget, I’m here to make it happen — no spreadsheets or flight anxiety required.

Travel Tip Tuesday—there are new rules for power banks and they differ by airline.

Travel Tip Tuesday—there are new rules for power banks and they differ by airline.

If you're flying two airlines this summer, your power bank rules are different on each leg. Southwest limits you to 1. American allows 2. Delta has not set a specific power bank limit. United allows standard banks in carry-on only with no stated count limit, but if your carry-on is gate-checked at the boarding door, the power bank has to come with you into the cabin. Emirates allows 1 and bans in-flight use completely.

The charger that's fine on your first flight could be a problem on your connection.

One rule every carrier agrees on: power banks go carry-on only. Not checked. Not the overhead bin. Under your seat or in the seatback pocket.

Check which airlines you're on this summer and make sure the rules match on both legs.

Sunny or fog, Ireland looked incredible in every light.

That said, I’ve never been more appreciative of a thick Irish fog than on Conor Pass, where it graciously concealed just how close we were to the edge of a very dramatic drop-off.

Turns out the best adventures make for the best stories… eventually. If you’re ready to make a few stories of your own, send me a message. I’ll help you find the unforgettable views—Irish fog sold separately.

Armed with Bonine, prayers, and rain gear that didn’t stand a chance against the spray from 10’+ swells, we boarded this boat for an adventure to Skellig Micheal Island. Somewhere between the harbor and the island, I became very aware of every decision that had led me to that moment.

But…

Wow, was it worth it.

Between the ancient monastery perched above the sea (a casual 600-stair climb because apparently the monks never skip leg day), the dramatic cliffs, and the fact that this was Luke Skywalker’s hideaway in Star Wars, the island already felt like another world.

Then there were the puffins.

Hundreds of them.

Tiny, colorful, and completely unbothered by the fact that they live on a remote rock in the middle of the Atlantic. They somehow managed to steal the spotlight from both a 1,000-year-old monastery and a galaxy far, far away.

So yes, I spent part of the boat ride wondering if this was how my story ended.
But standing on Skellig Michael, with puffins practically posing for photos within arm’s reach?

Worth every wave. Every prayer. And almost every stair.

Does your child need a REAL ID to fly? Here’s what parents should know:

Good news – TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling domestically.

However, if your teen plans to fly unaccompanied AND they have TSA PreCheck on their boarding pass, they will need either a REAL ID or another form of acceptable ID (like a passport) to receive expedited screening in the TSA PreCheck dedicated lanes.

If your teen is getting their first ID soon, consider getting a REAL ID, so they’re travel-ready for the future!

A Beginner’s Guide to Ireland 🇮🇪☘️

Step 1: Find a Guinness.
If beer isn’t your thing, find an Irish whiskey instead. We believe in solutions, not problems

Step 2: Find a castle.
This should take approximately 47 seconds.

Step 3: Befriend the giant dogs.
The Irish Wolfhounds are larger than some rental cars and significantly friendlier.

Step 4: Make friends with the bartender.
Order one drink. Leave three hours later with a list of hidden gems, a family history lesson, and a story that may or may not be entirely true.

Step 5: Wonder why you didn’t visit sooner.
Between the castles, the countryside, the pubs, and the people, Ireland has a way of making itself feel like home—just with better accents.

Another non-stop flight!!

The countdown is almost at zero for the expanded flights to Frankfurt from St. Louis with Lufthansa!

Starting this Monday, June 1, you can just hop on a plane 5 days a week for nonstop service to Germany.

Well… you should probably request time off and get a pet sitter and everything first before you just hop on the plane, but you get it.
