Applications being accepted for local on-call volunteer firefighters and $25 per-call Shift Program Fire/ EMS responders.

You've wanted to be a firefighter, but you have a busy life. We have options that can help you out.

John down the street, he does it. He's a firefighter/EMT twice a week in the evening and a welder during the day at a local manufacturing company. How does he do it you may ask???? Well, John turned in an application and went through the initial interview process, first. Then, John found out that all of his training and State/Federally recognized certifications was going to be 100% free to him. That sweetened the deal for John. Next he found out that after his initial training hours & basic State of Illinois requirements were met, he would be eligible to sign up for the volunteer shift program. He was able to look at his calendar and request to work the days he knew he was available to be a firefighter. John doesn't have to take emergency calls when he's at home with the family BBQing. John doesn't have to miss sporting events with his friends. John knows he's important to his family and friends. Now, John knows he's doing his part to be important in his community as well.

Paid Per Call -
Personnel that meet all qualifications of the Volunteer Shift Program are eligible to be paid for their services on a per call basis. Meaning, if you are scheduled and on shift at the time of an alarm for service, you will receive a flat rate pay for that call. Checks will be distributed monthly at the Board of Directors meeting. It is the responsibility of the personnel to pick up their check. Checks will not be given out to anyone other than the named personnel on the check. At the end of each year all personnel that have received pay for services in that fiscal year will receive a IRS 1099 tax form.
